It is also famous for 2 years trade course on MDEA ( Marine Diesel Engine Artificer), SF ( Ship Fabrication), SBW ( Ship Building Welding), SB&MD ( Ship Building and Mechanical Drafting)

Bangladesh Institute of Marine technology (BIMT) is the one of the leading institute for diploma engineering. This is the first Diploma marine engineering institute.
there are two diploma course like Marine Engineering & other is Shipbuilding Engineering. there are also 4 trade course(2years). Now Short course has stopped.
this institute has hostel, Dining, mosque, workshops & all neccessary things.
