Knowledge is really powerful things for everybody and every section where it is developed the place or that country also developed.

I mean knowledge has the real power of all developments for all countries, for all persons for all societies. Because knowledge is the real backbone of everything.

For rural developments in all aspects like irrigation of any types crops this institute is role model of all societies around the world.

National & international assemblies are arranging here everyday to discuss/teach about the suitable way of rural developments. I love this place.

Beautiful green and wide place. Open for all to visit. Stay over facility is there but only for govt official and trainees. There are 3 canteens. Traditional Bangladeshi food is available at a very reasonable rate. rooms are mainly for single occupancy. We visited there with family and didn't get any double room. Rooms are very small and furnished with old fashioned furniture. If you plan to visit and stay overnight at BARD, you should carry toothpaste, brush, shampoo, toilet paper, tissue paper and other necessary things. They only provide fresh towel. No facility for extra bed in room. No mineral water but at every floor, filtered water is available for residents. Room rent is 900tk + tax (AC room). It has a 32" flat TV with dish connection. Overall it's good if you like nature but don't expect luxury here. But rooms and toilet is clean. Not recommended for very old persons as this is a big place and walking and using stairs are difficult for them.

Although there are very less place to visit in comilla. one of the most beautiful academy is BARD. Its full form is Bangladesh Academy for Rural Development. Its it used for give training to the high govt officers. There are many beautiful places there. The roads are serene and calm. people comes here for walking recreation and for picnic. there are auditorium , tennis court, children playground , office buildings, convention hall, food corner and many other places. If you ever been to Comilla , you should visit BARD.
N.B- You need permission to go into the BARD.

BARD (Bangladesh academy for rural development) is an autonomous institution. The academy is located at Kotbari, 10 km from Comilla town. The campus is spread over a vast area that also hosts residences, conference rooms, mosque, library, a health clinic, sports complex, and other amenities.
The environment of this place is so good,beautiful and natural.

this place inside looks great. around this you'll never need to worry about oxygen. which you don't even. XD covering the whole place walking can be hard for some. i was in a bitter situation but i did covered it by walking. I'd definitely recommend you to check this place out.

The Academy was established in 1959 to train government officials and representatives of the local government and village organizations on various subjects relating to rural development. The Founding Chief executive of BARD was Dr. Akhter Hameed Khan- an internationally renowned social scientist. It is an autonomous institution governed by a Board of Governors of which the Minister for Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperative is the Chairperson. Administratively, it is attached to the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives. The Director General acts as the Chief Executive of the Academy and he is assisted by the Additional Director General and nine Directors. The activities of the Academy are carried out by its Faculty working in 9 Divisions each of which is headed by a Director. The Academy is famous for its evolved model “Comilla Approach to Rural Development” which is well-known at home and abroad, BARD received National Award in 1986.

Bangladesh Academy for Rural Development (BARD) (Bengali: বাংলাদেশ পল্লী উন্নয়ন একাডেমী (বার্ড)) is an autonomous institution that strives for research and training of local people as well as practitioners on rural development. The academy is known for implementing the Comilla Model in the 1960s that has been internationally recognised as a model project for rural development in the developing countries.

Foundation:

BARD was established in 1959 in Comilla under the initiative of Dr Akhtar Hameed Khan who became the institution's founder-Director. After the Bangladesh War of Independence, the institution was renamed to its present form.

Location:

The academy is located at Kotbari, 10 km from Comilla town. The campus is spread over a vast area that also hosts residences, conference rooms, mosque, library, a health clinic, sports complex, and other amenities.

Objectives:

One of the main functions of BARD is to provide training for both officials and non-official members of the public and private institutions working on rural development. The training is provided in the form of courses, visit programmes, workshops and seminars.

Research:

The research is basically aimed at collecting socioeconomic data for planning and project preparation. Findings are also used for training and information materials by respective public bodies and planning institutions. Research also relate to the evaluation of national rural development programmes either independently or jointly with government agencies, universities and research organisations.

Projects:

Since its inception BARD has conducted a number of large and small scales development programmes.

TCCA - In the 1960s the Academy evolved a new system of rural cooperatives where small farmers of Comilla sadar thana were organised into primary cooperatives in the form of the federation of Thana Central Cooperative Association. The model has been successfully replicated all over the country.

The Thana Training and Development Centre (TTDC) (since 1962-63) is a model of decentralised and coordinated rural administration for development. Subsequently, it was renamed as Rural Works Programme (RWP).

I had visited the BARD in 2009 and 27-6-2017. It's a wonderfull place in Comilla. The founder of BARD is Dr. Akther Hamid Khan. I took a picture with his sculpture . I share it . You Can visit it. It's wonderful place.
