Sugar Bay is a very relaxing resort located right on the beach. The welcome upon arrival is very warm and sets the tone for the overall experience at Sugar bay. All the staff are friendly and the service is quite professional. The rooms are updated a bit but this hotel tries to keep the original design elements as part of the decor. Live entertainment at the restaurants is a nice touch. The beach offers serene places to unwind and a man made barrier allows you to swim without being knocked over by the waves while maintaining the sleep inducing sound of crashing waves.
The dinning experience is nice however during breakfast and lunch i would prefer not to compete with birds for my food. The food and drink choices are sufficient but don't expect this to compete with a Las Vegas buffet.
When it comes to relaxation on the beach this is where Sugar bay shines. The place offers a multitude of relaxation spots and even has a wonderful spa on the compound.
    An overall happy experience.
    Thank you Sugar Bay.

My wife and I stayed here for our honeymoon. We arrived several hours early for check in and had to wait a long time before we were able to get a room. The hotel was quite apologetic though and comped us the early check in fee. This however was the only negative part of the trip as I must admit we had a wonderful time staying at this resort. The property is beautiful, it sits right on the beach and has 4 restaurants to choose from. The pool and other facilities are wonderful as well and special mention must be made of the spa which is where we got our complimentary couples massage that was truly one of the best we ever had. The food was wonderful and I think I put on at least 5 pounds during my short stay there. Make sure to check out the stake house, the oriental restaurant and of course Colin's bar for great meals. All in all a truly wonderful experience, I highly recommend it.

I have traveled a few places in the Caribbean. We always go all inclusive. Sugar bay has the most friendly staff we have found. The beach is a little small for what we are use to. Very clean outside. Inside our room is two white wicker chairs. The arm rest were grey with dirt. House keeping did a half assed job in the room. The food was great. The only issue that makes me not come back is the Low level alcohol they serve. I mean I would not serve it the town drunk. I have never been to a resort that didn't carry Capt. Morgan's spiced rum. In fact no spiced rum at all. If your a Bacardi drinker. They don't have it. The only whiskey is Jim beam. Terrible. Vodka is some off the wall brand that taste like kerosene. We had to rent a cab go to a store to buy liquor. The web sight claimed that had top shelf. They don't have middle shelf. $5000 for a week and we bought our own liquor. The beer was great. If your a beer drinker.

A fantastic hotel with the most amazing, friendly and helpful staff. Nothing is too much bother and they go out of their way to ask you about your day. The food is wonderful and they catered for my gluten intolerance superbly! Special thanks to Petol for looking after me. I highly recommend this hotel the beach is beautiful and the waiter in the beach is super polite and helpful.

We then after the sewage issue got moved to 326 even though we specifically said it had to be on the ground floor. No bell boy to help with the case across to the other side of the hotel. Not ideal for me that has serious problems with spine and mobility that gets worse through the day (it was 8pm at this time) and guess what. THE WIFI DOESN'T Work. Couldn't write it. They moved us into a king-size bed room. When it's supposed to be a twin. So I slept on the couch for two days. Not exactly a relaxing stay.

When it comes to the food and drink I've got a list of comments to make. I have a nut allergy, specific to almonds. I made them aware of this at time of booking and again at reception upon checking into the hotel.

Not at ANY given point in the reef restaurant was I made aware of what I could or could not have. It was a mere guess and hope days.

The bar beside reef annoyed the both of us. We both got cocktails that they mixed wrong and spotted that they used amaretto into the cocktails so obviously it was not suitable for me. The supervisor said it'll be fine. No it won't! So I got another drink and went back. So they then brought over a drink (watermelon punch?) I took one drink and bang, started coughing like hell and throat closing up a bit. I knew instantly and ran (literally) back to the room to get my epi pen, made myself violently sick. Nice way to spend the afternoon isn't it?

Housekeeping - the floors in both rooms were always dirty, feet were black each and every day. Towels left on floor to be changed were hung up to be used when this is a clear indication that it needs to be changed. They took away twice in a week our beach towels. These have to be given to reception and on our final night while paying the bill they refused to give me beach towel cards so I could get two new ones for checking out to avoid being charged.

Reception - hit and miss here. We made reception aware each and every day we were in 106 (5 days) that the WiFi wasn't working. We were told a range of excuses from its the weather, trees blocking signals, waiting on engineer (4 days in a row told this) it's like they didn't know and just palmed off excuses.

Credit to the team however when I went to tell them about the sewage. I think all 3 of them were running about like mad. We had to leave for a dinner reservation outside the hotel and the problem was fixed but as you would be the same I went back and said I'm refusing to stay in that room. Hence when we got moved to 326.

Then they went and let themselves down again after that by saying bell boys are on their way to the room. Never did. Got to the reception to go to the new room and I was about sweating my brains out in pain waited to get new room keys then went to the new room.

Day after (last full day) they posted the remaining bill through the door and said it is best to pay the remainder between 6pm and 9.30pm. The bill was confusing as all hell, numbers posted everywhere didn't make any sense. We had a 70BDS charge left to pay for an excursion so I went to reception to pay it. It took 20 minutes. First one said I'm busy (this is also concierge) can you come back tomorrow, wait give me an hour. I said it's 35US Dollars here's 40 don't worry about the 5. She let out a massive sigh then walked to a computer and started typing away, went on the phone then said wait here. No other explanation. Then the wedding coordinator came and tried to write a cash receipt. Poor lady I think had a long day. Wrote the date, amount, currency all wrong and told me it was valid. Sure. I laughed it off with her but again it's really poor from the other staff member.

The beach - the beach is nice enough, however, it's dirty in places with cigarette butts hidden about in the sand. There was a lot of seaweed the last 3 days that they didn't move or clean up either. Again, poor ground maintenance.
