NOT THE DISTILLERY, just a visitor center/bottling plant, so looses stars for misleading description and therefore disappointing "tour." But the "tour guide" is awesome, the history is interesting, and the tasting is a really fun experience.

Did the tour/tasting and honestly it was just so-so. The guide..(Dario?) was wonderful, with a great sense of humor, but otherwise it felt like a big commercial to me. From the film to the tasting. And that’s pretty much all you get, a film and a tasting, you do not get to see the stills or barrels or anything. Other distillery tours that we took on the island were more authentic. Highlight of the tour was the basil infused lemonade which was the hit of the day with our group of four.

Didn’t think this place was that great. I have been to other distilleries where you actually get to see the rum being made. This place seems more like a commercial for mount gay. At the end of a so-so tasting they give you $2 off the rum drinks at the bar. The tour guide “D” was nice and knowledgeable and had a good wit, but other than that I wasn’t impressed. We didn’t do the more expensive tours where they give you food and I am really glad the food didn’t look that great.

Amazing experience at this distillery. We have visited over 50 distilleries and this was one of our favourites. The service of Ryan, Shelley and Adrienne was impressive. From the product knowledge to interaction with guests everything was top notch. If you are in Barbados this is a must see.

Waste of money. The Mount Gay distillery is not actually here. Tours are tailored to dumb American tourists offloaded from cruise ships. Stay away if you have a bit of sense.

Good entertaining tour. Bar/restaurant had tasty food and beverages. Gift shop had a decent selection.

It was a great time and the tour was well worth it. HOWEVER Do not buy the bottles of rum from this shop. They only sell Duty Paid items. IT IS MUCH CHEAPER TO BUY ELSEWHERE DUTY FREE. I have confirmed this when I was elsewhere on the island and in the Airport Duty Free shop. If you are going to consume the bottles WHILE ON THE ISLAND then you are supposed to pay the duty which is 17.5% when I did the math. The tasting part of the tour was good. You do get to drink alot of rum and the hit the bar after for more drinks. Rum lovers enjoy

My wife, her parents and two siblings went on this tour. She went along because her Sister wanted to go and she came back to the hotel so happy she went. The tour was informative, the staff were knowledgeable and she loved the rum. Everyone bought some rum to bring home and I believe she will go again in future years. Well worth trying.

Great tour that taught me a lot about the history of rum and exactly which type of rum is good for mixing, cooking and sipping. Our tour guide was knowledgeable and funny. The bartenders were fantastic. Don't leave without trying the green monkey and the Mt Gay rum punch that you can only get at this bar. Have fun!

Simple explanation of the history of mount gay rum production and distillery. Be careful you will be given tastings so if your light weight like me don't go alone. Overall it was a good experience.

The tour is very short and not much information is provided. Our tour guide was tipsy after sampling rum all day. It's a must in Barbados to visit but don't get your hopes high.

The staff were very informative, and the tour group small, meaning it seemed very personal. Good degree of tasting, with 6 tasters up to the xo premium. We also had a great cocktail in the bar afterwards (extra) which was great. Shop also gives good prices on rum compared to supermarkets.
It was a little tricky to get here without a taxi or organised tour. We walked out, it but wasn't a nice walk and it was exposed to the sun, and got a taxi back, sharing with another couple for 20 Barbados dollars.

My friend and I did the buffet lunch tour on our last day in Barbados. Honestly, the tour isn't very long although it is very interesting and informative. I think the tour guide makes or breaks it. Our tour guide was Romal and he was hilarious and gave all these anecdotes and advice on the best ways to drink rum. The buffet was good, nothing special. After everyone had gone to get their food and tried to get some more, one of the food attendants practically scolded me saying I really shouldn't get food until everyone had gotten their first round (which again they already had). In any case, it was a good tour, it was great that they picked us up and dropped us back at our accommodations.

A really fun and informative tour of the Mount Gay distillery. Take an afternoon and enjoy the tour. The extended tour available for a slightly higher price is worth the added expense. It includes transportation to and from your resort and includes enough sampling that you'll need the ride back.

The basic tour (tours with a custom cocktail or lunch are also available) is great value, with information about the history of the distillery as well as the reasoning behind the different blends and styles of rum currently available. Tastings of all but the most expensive are included, and a well stocked bar offers a good range of cocktails. There's a gift shop on site selling the rum itself, along with other Mount Gay liqueurs, rum cake, apparel etc.
