Poor management at the QEH hospital resulting in long wait times at the Accident and Emergency Department. Professional care as doctors and nurses know what to do, but waiting 8 hours before seeing the doctor can cause huge problems for those seeking immediate attention. Best to go somewhere else until management can get a handle on the issues affecting the services offered by this patient care center.

It is ok has dedicated staff but process is so long. I guess when your on the outside looking in you don't know what shortcomings are happening there

I would give this hospital two stars. I am a UK citizen and also a qualified doctor. I have travelled widely and worked in and visited many hospitals around the world. This hospital shames the politicians and decision makers in Barbados. For an island that has thousands of millionaires and more than a handful of billionaires visiting or living here it is somehow wrong that this place should offer nothing more than a third world service. I know what third world means, I have worked in an African mission hospital so I know what can be offered in terms of care despite poor funds. The shinning beacon is the willingness of the staff although clearly not managed well and some of the nursing care is well below modern standards. This doesn't cost anything, it just takes a will to educate and improve staff to meet modern standards. It was obvious that the hospital is short of funds. I didn't see one patient with an IV drip, I know I should have been put on one after the accident I had been involved in. They do have a CT scan (looks quite ancient) but it is shameful they do not have an MRI. MRI scans are now affordable for an island the size of Barbados. Again It is shameful that the private hospital does have MRI scanning. I remember the worst of the NHS hospitals in the UK being like this in the 1970s. QEH needs to be refunded, pulled down , rebuilt and to receive the kind of investment that would allow the ordinary citizen in Barbados to receive proper modern medical care. Shame on all of you who have it in your power to supply something better than this.

Queen Elizabeth Hospital should not be considered an hospital. In fact it should be renamed Queen Elizabeth Death Chamber. Anyone who should have the misfortune to end up here would get better care at an animal shelter. In fact, not even a dog should get care in this hospital. Shame on the Government of Barbados for providing less than third world healthcare services for its Citizens!

I received great care and attention here and the staff I encountered were nice. Yes its true you may have to wait a while but its all within reason due to the busy and heavy demand of the medical team there. So be grateful and give thanks. Dont knock it till you've tried it Everyone's experience will be different at the end of the day.
