My aunt had an extremely unfair interview with a man who did not even speak her language and did not have a translator. He laughed when she told him her mother just died so he clearly didn't even understand what she was saying to him. Myself, my mother, and my father all work full-time. We can't afford to pay for three round trip tickets and take time off work to see her. I have not seen her in 11 years and was hoping she could attend my college graduation. I mailed her a formal graduation invitation from the registrar at my university to take to her interview and they didn't even look at it. She requested two weeks and was denied. 21 people ahead of her were approved and she was denied. If you're asking people for $160 for five minutes of your time, the least you could do is hire someone who actually speaks Bosnian or at the very least provide a translator.

It was a great experience applying for the visitor visa.
The security officers at the Consular Section (entrance is on Halida Kajtaza Street), will not allow anyone to enter before their scheduled appointment; so there is no need to come more than five minutes before the appointment.
After the security check, you will proceed to the waiting area and get a number (only one number is necessary for a family application). There are enough chairs available for everyone, free water dispenser & a coffee machine for-pay & restroom is available for applicants, as well.
The consular officer will conduct a short interview & take fingerprints, and you will be told if your visa is approved. My advice is to be truthful & if you are a student take along your Index.
Your passport will be delivered in a few business days to a DHL office of your choice.
To sum up, this is a first class visa application center. Good luck!

Great service as always. One thing has changed that now you collect your passport trough the DHL service. Other than that, no waiting, no crowds. The U.S. officer had additional questions regarding my new visa after I left the embassy and contacted me trough the email. The remaining questions and interview was held over the phone. Thanks America.

Our passports were stolen in Sarajevo and 2 hours after we called the embassy we had our new temporary passports ready to go. Had some tasty dessert in the shopping center across the street to celebrate. America!
So lucky there is an embassy there. Everyone was very helpful and nice. Thank you!
