Just returned from a trip to Aruba renting a vehicle from the Aruba airport Hertz agency. Very dissatisfied with them, their abrasive attitudes and two problems we encountered. First, the young man who checked us in became quite belligerent when I informed him I was opting to NOT take out additional insurancehis attitude turned to saying to me that I would regret that decision. Second, upon returning the car having filled the tank the night before, I was told it was only 7/8 full and they charged an extra $21.75 as a result.having to fill the tank the night before with over a 1/4 of the tank used.price to do so? $16.00. I have reported my complaint with Hertz Customer Service, but I will warn anyone to be very mindful of the problems you may encounter with this Hertz franchise. I DO NOT RECOMMEND USING THEM!
Very cordial service. I enjoyed the experiece.
Fast and friendly service.
Well kept rentals!
Hertz is a great company - my husband has President's Circle status with them and we are willing to pay more because we trust the brand and have had a great experience with themeverywhere except Aruba! These locations are franchised and they really do not care about their customers - they are also very open that they are a franchise and really don't care that other Hertz locations are more customer focused. We reserved well in advance to have a car in close proximity to the cruise port. My husband walked to the location (at the Renaissance Hotel). It took them an hour to get my husband checked in and then took him to another location (Renaissance Ocean) to get the car. That location decided last minute to close at 3:30 instead of 5pm so we had to return the car at the airport. It's a $25 cab trip each way to/from the airport despite it being a 10 minute drive so you double the price of the rental and they do not have a shuttle nor do they do pick-up. The staff was also very unfriendly and unsympathetic. They did not have any care that they were unprepared with our advance reservation, that they wasted over an hour of our time, that they closed early, or that they significantly increased our cost because of their closure. And they said they didn't care because they are a franchise. Oddly enough we mentioned our somewhat ridiculous experience with another family we met onboard and they said they had the exact same experience right down to the "we don't care, we're a franchise" response. If I were Hertz I would cut this franchise loose. And as a customer, next time I'll spend half as much, have more time to spend on the island, and enjoy the nice customer service experience other passengers had at Enterprise and Thrifty.
