Dr Phan is our cats’ primary vet, and we’re so happy to have it that way! You can feel that Dr Phan seems to genuinely care about them. He has countless times helped us navigate the health issues that arise for our cats, and often would beyond his duty to provide us the support.

Dr Phan is excellent and our pups are very comfortable at the clinic. My female dog was spayed by Dr Phan. She had keyhole surgery and it only left the tiniest of scars which Is unnoticeable now and it healed very quickly. He provides holistic care and supports fresh food feeding. He is kind and gentle with out babies. Vetcare Hawthorn is our go to! Thanks team at Vetcare Hawthorn!

Staff were amazing here! Our dog needed surgery on a Sunday night and they were so accomodating and kind and took great care of him. Highly recommend, best vet in the area!

Dr phan saved my giant dogs life!
I brought in Brutus a puppy neo mastiff already at 40kgs. He had strangled himself on a car tie down while we were driving in the car, we took the collar off but he still wasn't able to breathe. So we went here because it was the closest vet to us at the time but had no idea if they would take an emergency or be able to help us.
He had only minutes and was limp when we brought him in he had asphyxiated and was over heating at 42c.
Dr phan handled everything amazingly getting to work quickly and taking time between Brutus as an emergency and his other patients whom he needed to see.
The receptionist/assistants was extremely kind and compassionate and stayed patting him on the floor while we were getting him stable.
He got Brutus's airway open and got his temperature down and had us come in at 5pm at closing to discuss the options of what to do next!
At 5pm Brutus still wasn't walking or getting up he was awake but unable to move. Dr phan thought he will likely need to sleep it off but that still could be other hidden issues.
So he gave us options of being able to either leave him over night and having him come back after hours and check on him, or take him home and make him comfortable and stay up all night watching him and hoping he can sleep it off, or to take him to a 24h emergency vet hospital. He explained the vetbill that would leave us with and the limited options that each choice has, as not much else could be done either way.
with the stress for him and us of leaving him somewhere else, we decided to take him home.
He helped us carry Brutus out and into the car and even gave us towels for the road as Brutus was still very ill.
We stayed up all night keeping him comfortable and talking to him throughout the night and like Dr phan thought he slept it off!
He was awake and sitting up at midnight and was walking and moving around again and being cheeking and milking his new amount of attention and asking for treats by morning!
Dr phan saw us the next morning(today) and gave him a (hopefully) final check up and sorted through the effects of what he went through yesterday.
The cost was amazingly low for what emergancy care and unfortunately clean up afterwards, that brutus needed which was an absolute blessing!
I can't get over how lucky we were to be near by such an amazingly well qualified and compassionate veterinarian and receptionist/assistant when the emergency happened!
I am so happy to have my boy back to himself!
I wanted to leave this detailed review to show how amazing the vetcare hawthorn team handled Brutus's emergancy and how kind and compassionate they were the whole time.

took two of my rats here for medication for a respiratory infection. my usual exotic vet was closed so i tried one in the area. once i finally saw the vet he insisted on a shot of Enrotril, which i thought in their best interest. the needle was large and they were squeaking in pain and it took many tries to inject all the liquid. a few days later i notice a 20c sized wound on their back and immediately call the vets, which rung out. i do some googling and find that this is the result of a too highly concentrated dose given to them and that the chemicals had essentially melted the skin around the injection site. i call this vet again and leave a detailed voice message explaining the issue and how it was caused by negligence. i wasn’t contacted for TWO WEEKS! when finally they left me a voicemail apologising for the error. luckily rats are master healers and they had already almost completely healed. DO NOT bring rats here!!!!
