Well I was so blown away by this tour. So informative, interesting, visually amazing. Kevin our guide was a wealth of information. Never thought Sugar could be so interesting. Something people who enjoy large industrial complexes will fine very very interesting. Highly recommend to everyone. What a great experience

Great Tour, Sara our tour guide was excellent, we learnt a lot, she was very informative and also had a good sense of humour. We highly recommend going on the tour and asking for Sara's Tour. There is a smell from the sugar, but all round the town it smells of the sugar. But please note, you have to book and pay for the tour through the Tully Information Centre in Tully and then you go to the Tully Sugar Mill from there. The Information Centre ladies don't tell you enough, the map is not quite right that you have to follow. They don't tell you where to park your car - so turn into the Mill drive way and go straight ahead till you see the Tour Mill Hut and turn in front of that and find a park behind it somewhere. Also the ladies didn't tell us that you can't take hats, sunglasses, bags or backpacks on the tour, so leave them locked in your car. You can take cameras and you must have covered in shoes. We went back to the information centre after the tour and told them about the map and the lack of information and the very lady that sold me my ticket said "she always tells people all of that, and we should have been told" but Fenella I didn't want to be rude and tell you that you were the one who sold me my ticket and you only told me about covered in shoes and take a camera. It would be good if the Information Centre staff worked in better with those who actually run the tour, as they are the experts.

A tour of the Sugar Mill is highly recommended. We walked through the mill, from the trains arriving with the cane right through to the final product being despatched. In this risk-averse world, we were able to experience the process up close! The fact that the Sugar Mill is entirely self-sufficient for power (generating its own) is remarkable. All waste from the cane is recycled into molasses, bagasse and even 'wet' waste is returned to the farms. A good news story and well worth a visit.
