This used to be a great little caravan park but recently they decided to remove the camping area with the great views over the water and install some extremely expensive "glam tents" in its place. So where previously you could fit maybe 20 tents on a beautiful grassy area there's just some dodgy money spinners and anyone who wants to camp is relegated to set up between caravans and the amenities block with no views and cars and boat trailers parked all around them. Whoever thought this was a good idea has ruined the best caravan park in Port Stephens. If they needed "glam" they should have just renovated some of the cabins on the front row and left the camp ground alone.
We stayed here last year in Christmas for a few days. We were staying in our caravan so not sure about cabins etc. Park has a nice small pool too. Location is perfect and staff was very friendly too.
NO WIFI NO GOOD ENOUGH NO GAME NO PLAY GAME
NO GAME = NO HAPENIS
NO HAPENIS = NO LIFE
NO LIFE = DEATH
LESSON OF THE DAY
PLISS HAV DA WIFI!!
We stayed in one of the glam tents and wow, what a beautiful setup! Aside from all the bird poo scattered all over the front deck, the setup was clean and spacious. Scenery was gorgeous, and the interiors of this tent were exactly like the pictures on the website! A great king sized bed, beautiful looking faux fireplace and huge ensuite. Best of all the pit toilet was done up like a normal toilet and didn't smell at all ;-) Glamping at it's finest.
The only problem we had was with the 100s of cockatoos roosting in the evening and squawking all night long!! I felt as though we should have had a warning about that. Not sure if it's a particular season for the birds but it was truly deafening. We are seasoned campers and have never experienced anything like that. Other than that the staff were absolutely lovely and we would love to return, so long as the birds have moved on! :)
Amazing location. Staff were so friendly and helpful from booking through to our whole stay. The Easter Bunny even came to visit
Spa bath in our cabin was a great edition for a relaxing evening
Friendly staff. Nice place, close to Anna Bay. Staying there you also get a list of offers, like discounts to the nearby restaurant etc.
Can't rave about Thou Walla Sunset Retreat enough. Even on rainy days while we visited it was still amazing. The views, the location, the friendly staff. we had to extend our stay a few times just because we did not want to leave. Will definitely be visiting again and again and again and we know we would never get tired of it. The rooms are well maintained as well as all the amenities. Just a 2 min or so walk to The Deck and The Point restaurants which offer beautiful food, and also another beautiful spot on the other side to catch the sunset. Can't wait to return!!
So far great reception and service, clean cabin and good sized, very clean park
This is just the tonic, for a busy couple looking to kick back for a few days, or maybe a bit longer.
Glamping is brought to a whole new level here at Thou Walla.
Set overlooking a natural inland harbour, and facing West, allowing some beautiful Sunsets, this place ticks all the boxes, for a romantic get away.
Tents are amazing, with all the facilities, and benefits you would expect from an expensive Hotel room.
You still get that camping feeling, as although Breakfast is provided, you do need to go off and cook it at the camp kitchen.
Highly recommended. 👍
