Award-winning zoo. Nice location away from Sydney city centre. Get there by ferry from Circular Quay, then take the cable car to the top entrance and work your way down.

Best/cheapest visit is to take the public Sydney Ferries (using the Opal prepay transport card). Buy your zoo tickets online. We bought ours on our mobile while waiting for the ferry. Tickets are cheaper online, and there are family tickets where you can save even more.

My husband and I liked it, the zoo is well laid out with good animal shows/ zookeeper talks through the day. My only regret is getting there late - most of the shows are in the morning/ before noon. It can get hot on a sunny day, but the view of Sydney harbour is excellent. Good connectivity through ferries and buses both

The main part of the zoo is great, lots of information about the animals, great free flying bird show. In addition, the views of Sydney from the zoo (opposite side of the harbour) are amazing.

We also did the wild ropes, which was quite fun quite challenging as well!

I'd recommend the combined ticket for both. If you purchase your tickets at the Circular Quay counter (right near the ferry), then you can take the sky tram up the hill when you arrive to the main entrance and proceed down instead of having to walk up from the ferry landing. Probably works to do this if you purchase online too.

A fantastic cultural asset. Though I am not a zoo lover by nature I have come to love this tourist and child friendly attraction. I recommend strongly taking the ferry in and from there taking the ski lift to the top of the hill..then amble slowly down the hill. A must visit for locals and sightseers alike.

Limited good food options though - I suggest packing your own.

I love animals and with that visit a lot of zoo's every chance I get, and I have to say this is one of the best I have ever seen.

the zoo is big and can take a while to walk so make sure you get there as early as possible to get the full day in, ticket prices are really good but if you can get yourself the Sydney ferry and zoo ticket in one. It is a nice way to see the harbour going over and they the zoo itself.

Once in the zoo make sure you explorer everywhere here is some amazing places for sights or the city and photo opportunity's.

If you have to see anything at the zoo make sure you make time to see the QBE bird show and the seal show also. They are not only a wonderful thing to see but are educational for yourself and the kids.

If you really want to see the zoo and the animals though I would suggest the Road and Snore option this allows you to meet late after the park closes you enter and are taking to the camping area where you will see you cabin for the night and be able to drop any bags you have brought, from there they will do a small talk and introduce you to a few animals to get a little closer. (Note when I did it, it was lizards and snakes, only a note as some people don't like them).

After the talk you are treated a walk around the park which allows a much better look at some of the nocturnal animals in the zoo. from there you will walk down and enjoy a nice meal inside the zoo itself and finally after that it is off to bed.

The next morning you will have access to the park with the keepers before the gates open again to see some of the animals who can be lazy or hide once it gets a little hot. (The animals you will see depend on the keepers with you but normally you will be told the night before). from there you normally collect your bags and go for a bit of a close up with some of the Australian wildlife and finally the park is yours to explore for the day.

Fantastic zoo. One of the best I've visited. Not huge but every area had been well thought out and the habitations are still large. You get the sense that they've reduced the number of species in display to give each plenty of space to exercise and play.

Tip: you can rent strollers (baby jogger City mini gt's) for $15 each.

We had a lovely day at the zoo, we arrived at 9 to get parking which was a breeze. Prebooked our tickets online so through the gate at 930am. Walked a different way to the rest off the crowd so got to see heaps before the crowds built up. Saw the seal show which was great. Lined up for the Sumatran tigers, only about 10 minute wait. Flight to Sumatra was very well done as was the village as we walked out. Great to see the tiger! We really enjoyed ourselves but felt there were less animals than the last time we visited.

As good as Melbourne zoo. Glad I got a voucher as Melbourne zoo is free for kids. Million dollar views especially at the bird show. We loved the cable car at the entrance from where the ferry arrives to the main gates. The tiger exhibit was hyped up for one/two tigers. We enjoyed the experience and beautiful plants.

Great place to take your family and/or friends. Make sure you go on a nice day because the views are fantastic. Also, plan to see the seal and bird shows they have on two or three times a day. Awesome friendly staff. Food prices aren't too expensive but I would suggest to pack your own lunch.

I rarely give an attraction 5 stars, but Taronga zoo truly deserves it. It is a world class zoo with many stores and places to eat. The ride there alone is a wonderful little adventure for adults and kids alike and when you get there the visual delights are astounding. The animals are all healthy and happy and it is a wonder to see them so calm and happy in captivity, meaning they truly love their home. Why wouldn't they, its MEGA PRIME real estate! lol Go Taronga zoo, keep it up guys. 5 stars!

I highly recommend the roar and snore attraction where you spend the night in the zoo! All of the staff were extremely kind and knowledgeable. It was obvious they love what they do. The zoo was clean and well kept and had some amazing views and animals.

Fantastic, fun zoo. My favorite part was the bird show we happened upon with birds flying and doing tricks on command - I had no idea birds could do that. It's very picturesque with great views of the Harbor as well. Wonderful, fantastic place.

I visited this place last month. Good place to hang out with kids. The place is pretty big but well kept. Unfortunately, the cable car is under maintenance during that time. My advice is plan ahead before coming here and get ready to exercise as you will have to walk a lot. Bring some foods and drinks too. If possible start from the top entrance to the lower.

Great zoo. Good idea to bring swimmers for the kids as there's a water play area that's a lot of fun (if you have the energy between animals!) Shows are also worth getting to - queues can be long so get there early. Kids loved the penguins - can get right up close to see them through the glass swimming.

This is definitely one of the best zoos in the world. It's about 100 years old so the foliage and trees are all well grown and it really feels like you are walking through the woods. The views from the zoo are spectacular facing Sydney Harbour. The Seal show is very well done and respectful to the animals. My toddler-aged children love to play in the kids playground with the artificial stream flowing through it.

I would recommend a stop to the zoo for anyone who likes zoos. It's definitely one of the best ones around.
