Good amenities
Missing tv remote, blown lightglobes and non functional wifi were a bummer Great cooking and laundry amenities in room Friendly possums were a highlight
At time of writing this review we are on our last night of 5 at Plum (the British) in north Melbourne.
Pro
Good location close to tram stop and lots of good restaurants in and near Errol St.
Good sized one bedroom apartment that is well equipped with everything you need.
Cons. there are quite a few so persevere
Had to pick up the key in Carlton a $13 taxi ride away.
The cleaning standard has been ignored for quite a long long time. Badly ingrained dirt where ever you look..stained worn wrinkly carpet dirty doors and, skirting, drips and stains on the walls .Dirty cutlery .Cracked and dirty looking vinyl on the bathroom floor. Dirty stained couch and armchairs.Crusty muck on the microwave controls.
Pillows that stank of sweat.
Big bed but really small sheets and duvet ( doona for aussies) that don't fit.
Really poor lighting in the lounge so impossible to read in the evenings and the lamp didn't work because the bulb holder is melted.
Only one bedside light.
Supposed to be a serviced apartment but no service for the first 3 nights.
Extremely noisy guests above us on the first night.
There are much better places for the same money.
Don't bother booking here ,we certainly wont be doing so on our next trip.
It was ok.
Honestly, the carpet and couch looks dirty. The fridge is very small, and there is no oven. The washing machine is just terrible and clothes are still dripping wet after use as there is no proper drying. There is a lot of noise around the apartments with the cars and trams, and the worst of all is no reception, you have to check in elsewhere which is VERY inconvenient.
Really bad experience ever. It cant tell this is hotel. I came here by taxi with many lugguge. And no reception here. Have to go another place which is 20 min away. I never been hotel so bad service like this it make me angry in many many years. I thought i was tired need to relax in lobby and check in with reception but they have nothing . I have to call a new taxi with all lugguge drop another place to check- in and get keys then go bak with my many lugguge to back the plum hotel. Fuuk off!!!! Bad experience ever in my life.
Stayed here from Thursday 22.9.16 to Sunday 25.9.16 with my husband.. Arrived there in the evening around 9pmThe negative side was that we had to go to another apartment block which was in Carlton which was about 5 to 10 mins away to pick up the keys. it would have been nice to have the keys available at the apartment that we stayed at.
Postive side was that it was spacious inside, quiet, clean and we could see our hire car that was parked across the road. The apartment was centrally located which was great. We stayed in apartment no 6 and would not hesitate to stay there again.. Thank you
Stayed for 3 nights. Hotel has great potential but let down by unacceptable maintenance and cleaning standards.
Rooms quite noisey being next to traffic lights and tram tracks so if you need quiet to sleep this is not a hotel for you.
Pros: very spacious studio rooms, nice old pub building charm, close to trams. Reasonable pricing.
Cons: DIRTY. Dusty and grimey, dust all over walls, greasy kitchen and grease all over light switches and air-con remote. Sticky floor. Carpet need replacing. Broken blind chains so you can't close the blinds. Unhygienic. Definitley not like the photos!
Expedia says 'free parking' but it is actually street parking. Although I had no trouble finding a spot, it was not something I was prepared for with my brand new car.
Contacted hotel on first night for resolution but no response.
some nice place
