I give two stars based on my stay between 9 to 10 April 2021.
Firstly, the room is cold. Air-conditioning only heat room for around 30 mins and then it automatically stops. The night temperature was 1c outside, so we have to wear thermo clothes , and extra blankets.
Secondly, the room is too dark if you need to read. I called reception for lamp, he said "sorry we don't have lamp". As a n alleged four star hotel, the staff should at least offer some help or advice if they don't have the facility, such as telling the customer the nearby shop where I can buy brighter light bulb or torch. Disappointingly, the male receptionist didn't offer anything except telling me sorry.
Thirdly, the mattress is uncomfortable, which makes me think why I am paying hotel rate ($265 a night) for motel standard mattress
Lastly, which is a very minor issue. We got the most basic room accessories (toiletories, coffee bags and sugar, that is all ). Even some motels give bottle waters and two biscuits.
Some merits, bed sheets are very clean, room cleaning was excellent, room size and style is also excellent, the location is great. Most important, the room ( we were on top floor) was quiet.response / report this review -

I didn't stay at the hotel but the restaurant/cafe onsite does amazing breakfast and brunch. Was really delicious and creative food. My new favourite now in Katoomba for breakfast.

Clean, comfortable bed, walking distance to shops and not too far to walk to the 3 sisters either. Assistant manager (Vicky?) was lovely and very helpful. Its an old building but lovely.

Friendly and helpful staff with comfortable and well appointed rooms.
The breakfast was delicious but there is no facility for dinner on site.
There is a licenced snack bar in the lounge area with beer and wine available by the glass or bottle. The selection of snacks that are available is not very extensive.
If you are a senior there is no indication on their web site that they honour the seniors card or offer a seniors discount. When we arrived we noticed the seniors sticker on the front door which indicated that a seniors discount was available. When queried about it the staff member knew nothing about it and said that she would ask her manager. The following day I was informed that the seniors discount was only available for a two night stay, or more.response / report this review -

The location was perfect, in the heart of the Katoomba, Blue Mountains. We only needed to walk to the great cafes, restaurants, shops & supermarkets. Only 10 min walk from the Katoomba station, 4 min drive to the Three Sisters and 3 min drive to the Katoomba Falls. Free parking provided. The room was very clean, the staffs were very helpful & friendly. The hotel had very cosy lounge rooms, a very nice bar & restaurant. The hotel breakfast was excellent. Everything was perfect, my family & I were super happy, definitely we will come back ! Highly recommend, please do not hesitate to book !

Staff is very friendly and the location is excellent. The hotel needs a bit of maintenance though, but I guess this is something minor. I definitely encourage people to stay there

Rustic hotel. Not kid friendly when it comes to its facilities so don't go here with kids. Their breakfast host prefers Caucasians. My opinion.

Very nice and clean hotel. A friendly person in reception to greet us. Room has a fridge and kettle. Room slightly on the small side for a 'deluxe' but still large enough. Overall a good stay in Katoomba and would recommend.

We were not shown to our room we were handed the keys and given directions up two flights of stairs through the rabbit warren towards the back of the building, we were not offered assistance with our luggage. The room was at the very back of the building, right next to a fire exit door which was locked. The bathroom had rubbish on the floor, a dirty bath and mouldy shower curtain which I have photos of. We found the Palais Royale, (Katoomba), through Luxury Escapes, but this was no luxury and we will not be back. There is a restaurant on the premises but this is only open for breakfast.

Enjoyed our stay at Palais Royale very much. Great location on the main street with plenty of parking, pleasant traditional decor, liked the style of an old building. Friendly, professional, helpful staff.
