Overall a good experience. Went to the tasting room and a tasting was only $5/person. They could be a bit brusque, but it was busy and there were several tour buses that went through for quick tastings. They seemed surprised that my friend and I didn’t just want to down each taste and leave, but were helpful when we asked questions. Decent wines too at decent prices. As with most wineries, tasting fee is waived if you buy a bottle.

About a $20/$30 cab ride from Geelong.

Our waiter was so attentive, as a table of 25 you'd expect to have to ask for a drink every now and then, but he was completely onto it for all of us for the whole time; the service was seamless.

Drive all the way from Melbourne to Mr. Grubs café for lunch recommended by a friend and totally discussed with the staff and left after 3 of us had a glass of wine and 2 glasses of bubbly. The 4th person ordered a glass of Riesling and it was a desert Riesling and totally undrinkable for lunch. When we complained the waitress came back and said they could not exchange it for another wine as it was expensive and the reason it was only about a little more than a swallow the waitress explained that it was the last of the bottle and they didn't want to open another. We refused to pay and when the manager on duty came out she argued with us to the point we just said we will pay for the 3 we drank and would leave and go somewhere else for lunch where we could get what we wanted along with some friendly service. The member of our party asked the manager on duty if she would eat a bowl of ice cream before having a medium rare steak and she said I might. Who needs a smart ass like that and what kind of winery is this with that kind of customer service. The manager was totally out of her realm with her knowledge of wine. Between the 4 of us we have more than 40 years of experience drinking wines and to basically told we didn't know what we were talking about is insulting to say the least. Who would serve a desert wine with a main meal and not tell the customer it was a desert Riesling in the first place. Then he was told he should have went to the cellar door first and tasted some of the wines. What a joke and will never go there again and will make it a point to use Gerrard's rule of 250 on Face Book. If you don't know his rule go to the library and look it up because your customer service needs some very fine tuning. We ended up at the Jack Rabbit just down the road and had a very nice afternoon with wine and lunch. I hope you have a very nice day but boy do you need to clean up your act!

Further to the comments above I would like to say that it was actually unbelievable the way the waitress was treating us - firstly there was only a bit of wine of a quarter of a glass - WHEN YOU ORDER WINE BY THE GLASS YOU ALWAYS GET A GOOD HALF OF THE GLASS - NOWHERE DO YOU RECEIVE A QUARTER - ALSO TO BE TOLD THAT - THEY WOULD NOT OPEN ANOTHER BOTTLE - BECAUSE IT IS SO EXPENSIVE - WOW! AND
BEING TOLD THAT IT WAS $12 A GLASS .AS I SAID I COULD NOT BELIEVE THAT YOUR CUTOMER SERVICE WAS ABSOLUTELY WOEFULL!!!!!

Went into the cellar door today - rudest greeting ever! Lady said 'hi - are you here for a tasting?' I responded "yes please" - she then says 'well we are closing in 17minutes so if there is something particular that you want to try then that is fine but I'm not running you through the range'. 17minutes..what did she think I was going to set up camp in the cnr with a picnic basket? I was going to buy 1/2 a dozen Liz's Chardonnay but not with that sort of welcome! I just walked out and won't be back - they have lost me as a customer!

I visited the cellar door to learn about the winery and wines for a course I am currently doing. The staff provided fantastic service and were very friendly. Along with this the wine I tasted was awesome. I will certainly be coming back here one day and definitely encourage anyone looking for a good day out and some great wine to visit this vineyard.

I couldn't have picked a better place for a birthday lunch with family. The food at the Mr. Grubb cafe was delicious and the staff were wonderful. A stroll around the beautiful gardens topped off a perfect day. Looking forward to returning soon.

Great food and good service. Loved sitting out on the deck between the birches on a sunny day while the kids play on the lawn. Little bit on the pricey side, but worth it for the great food, wine and atmosphere.
