I just came back from the silent retreat and LOVED every minute of it. The people are very lovely and welcoming, the Buddhist practitioner gave great teachings, the scenery was amazing, the food was amazing and all the amenities were very clean. Anyone would get benefit out of a retreat like this.
Always informative and enlightening. Classes are delivered in a down to earth way, with a dash of humour.
When life gets stressful, meditation helps. A friend turned me onto this meditation centre (during covid lock down) and it's now all accessible online. They do a free Tuesday midday meditation (12.30 pm) for a half-hour that I highly recommend for meditation learnings. I'm not necessarily a Buddhist as I'm not a doctrine kind of person although very spiritual; but of all the doctrines there are to choose from, this is one that leads to kindness, empathy, compassion and forgiveness, and is an excellent resource for people going through relationship transitions or otherwise hard times. Classes are $10 each (online) or slightly more if you go to their temple facility (I've not been yet so can't comment). Donying is one of their teachers and he's brilliantly compassionate and knowledgeable, and their chat system works really well (I do find the new website sometimes tricky to navigate but if you browse around a bit it usually works to get you where you want to be). Tuesday night series is brilliant but I think they have classes nearly every day (or most days)? I just became a monthly member so get all the classes looking forward to it. Thanks Kadampa and Donying (sp?) hope I spelled that correctly. Such lovely meditation teachings and helping increase compassion, animal care, and ethics in the world.
Absolutely life changing experiance. I attended a 1/2 day introduction to meditation in December 2019 and I haven't stopped practising since. Meditation has grounded me and given me the tools to continue on my journey. I meditate everyday and appreciate all that I have. The feeling of "inner peace" is priceless and something that I wish I could give everyone. I have joined the "online streamimg" family and am enjoying every session. If you have ever thought " gee i would like to try meditation" DO IT!. It's wonderful!.❤
Friendly, genuinely interested in helping people to learn how to be happier and live peacefully. I have been to two seminars there which included meditation practice and some teaching on an aspect of awareness, which I found tremendously helpful for my current stress. Not much religion included so no feeling uneasy about that aspect. Although they are obviously very devout in their faith which makes for an authentic experience. I think this place is "kosher"/"the real deal".
There is good parking once you get there up a dirt road. Good signage to help find it. Plus excellent instructions from the centre helped..
The centre is very well maintained and clean and comfortable.
So all in all the Kadampa Centre is a great place to go. I am genuinely impressed with what they offer/teach without any pressure about their religion at all. It was easy to join in for a nervous first timer.
