Charged us $90, we had about half a plate of tastless food each. Extremely bad customer service and rude managment. When we asked for a partial refund the owner became extremely agressive. We were celebrating our anniversary and it put a damper on things. :(

We came here a year ago and the seafood buffet included fresh prawns crabs mussels now when we came here there was old texture prawns with black or no heads. We are very unimpressed on the meal we had.

Simple quite place to meet with family and have an all you can eat option. Meals are satisfactory, not really special.

Have always loved Charlie's, it was always a must do whenever visiting Cairns, sadly, after tonight's experience I won't ever be back and I certainly will not be recommending you to ANYONE!!
Non-existent table service.
Uninterested wait staff who had to be prompted to clear tables.
Frozen prawns of questionable edibility.
Empty food trays in the buffet (in stark contrast) the American groups private function was extremely well catered for).
Individual complaints from a number of dining parties fell on the deaf ears of your staff, in fact I got the distinct impression they just didn't care. Only when a group of about 6 individual dining parties approached management together was there any attempt to rectify the situation with you refunding each diner half their bill, quite a pathetic gesture considering just how piss poor the food, service and overall staff/management attitudes were!!

Absolutely appalling. The Buffett was not ready at 6:00pm as advertised food was only starting to be served at almost 7:00pm. Oysters were off which we had to tell the waitress to then advise the chef that someone could get food poisoning if they ate the oysters. Only then they took it out of the Buffett. Everything was horrible. Don't dine here.

Very disappointed..to be honestthe worst restaurant in cairns, well if you can call it a restaurant.refried foods and the 10 prawns that were left there and not been replaced had black heads,tails and legs which is an indication of going off.thank god i left them on my plate.. yuck..don't go there.your better off going to a takeaway.totally different to when it was owned by others .should be closed down due to non fresh,not fit for human consumption and dirty tables.so where are the food /hygiene inspectors??????.

Very disappointed. Having loved and raved about Charlie's for over 20 years, we had the opportunity to take an overseas friend there for dinner. Talking the place up to our friend, we got there to find that the price had gone up. $35 for an all you can eatok. Prawns were small, crab meat was rock hard and hard to eat, buffet was dry and over cooked, greens had turned brown, $12 jug of lemon, lime n bitters tasted like mineral water. Got up for dessert and a cuppa, no hot water for a cup of tea, old jug of coffee on the table and milk was left to sit on the side (not good in summer in Cairns) and at 8:20pm we were told that the buffet was now closing and we wouldn't be able to have anything else. Extremely disappointed in every aspect, no table service after over 20 years, we won't be going back there. Overrated and overpriced.

WARNING : Don't waste your money!

- Overpriced.
- Below average food.
-Tried to overcharge other guests.
-No music /atmosphere.
-Fans on the deck were off (in summer).
-Rushed out before closing.

I attended a 21st birthday there and the buffet was very limited in options for the price ( $35) . Other all you can eat buffets in Cairns for less with better variety. They tried to charge other guests $38 and gave no explanation why when we questioned them. No Music or atmosphere and they seated us outside where the fans were off until we requested they be tuned on, and in a Cairns summer it's very hot. While wrapping dinner up and giving the final birthday speeches the manager on duty came and asked if we would be much longer, it was approx 9:00pm. We wrapped things up quickly as we could see the manager hovering and trying to move us on, making his presence and displeasure very known. By the time we were done we couldn't leave through the restaurant because he had locked it all and turned all lights off, there was no staff in sight. We ended up leaving through a side gate. I was in my car to head home about 9:20pm the restaurant according to trip advisor doesn't close till 9:30pm. I found it unprofessional, uninviting and extremely rude. Considering we were the largest group of the night they would have made most of the nights earnings from us. Never recommending or returning.

We chose to spend Christmas Day lunch at Charlie's because of the price per person, expecting at least a decent seafood buffet. Well weren't we wrong, there was no table xmas decorations on the table with the exception of a candle, and the table we sat down at still had coco pops on the floor from breakfast. The seafood especially the prawns must have been the smallest that the restaurant could purchase. The staff were very nice no doubt but the restaurant is in need of a good clean, when you look up at the air conditioning vent above our table you could see the mould and cobwebs over the downlights. Very disappointing considering the amount of $$ and the quality of food left a lot to be desired. Would not even go back for a normal weekday meal.
