Great view of the sea. Wooden staircase takes you down the cliffs. Its windy down there near the rocks. Some people do rock fishing there. Be mindful tides can be big sometimes.
At the grounds, there is lighthouse and a museum.

Great place for a fun day. Some stunning views of the sea. Nice walk to the rocky beach. Very windy So be ready for that.

We visited Melbourne, Cape Schanck Lighthouse was not originally in our plan. The place surprisingly so beautiful. The lighthouse itself is only short walk from parking area. Pebble beach and Pulpit rock is located on eastern side of the lighthouse. There is a proper walking way down to Pebble beach and Pulpit rock (about 20 minutes walk from parking area). The place also has a very beautiful sunset scenery. Everyone in our group were very happy and will visit again.

When we travelled from Melbourne CBD the sky gods were rearing to pour. Luckily we got away just with short drizzle. It was a pleasant noon ride and we reached the spot at 3:30 and unfortunately we missed to go atop the light house. By now the Sun rays penetrated through the dark clouds and within an hour the sky was filled with warm sun light. It's one of the most amazing places I have been to. The rocks covered with flora and fauna, enveloped by Bass strait on the other side and the light house which was lit in 1859 stands tall overlooking the landscape.

The Cape Schanck Boardwalk and the surrounding walking paths offer breathtaking views of the sea and the coastal lines of the area and a beautifully located lighthouse. The walking tracks themselves are quite easy to navigate and does not require much effort. The journey takes you to a number of viewing platforms and beaches that allow amazing vistas of the surrounding areas as well as the amazing coast lines.

Be sure to head down to the pebble beach and walk your way across the rocks to see amazing views of the jagged coast line and hundreds of rock pools getting continuously filled and drained by the non-stop advance and retreat of the sea.

This lighthouse at Cape Schanck is special to me and brings back fond memories. Growing up in a boarding school in Madras, India I spent eight years looking up at a similar towering one-eyed behemoth that cast it’s super raybeam over the Bay of Bengal and the city. As a curious child I wondered what it would be like in there. Turn the clock 30 years forward and I did get inside the Cape Schanck Lighthouse. It was fulfilling.

Went with family for Junior rangers yesterday. Great experience. Rangers Tash & Stephen are clearly passionate and dedicated caretakers of this splendid site. Long may they share their enthusiasm with all who visit.

This is a great wild area made accessible for the fit by a long steep wooden stairway. Those who don't have time or oclination to go down will probaby still enjoy the views but then it would be less interesting. The lighthouse is small but pretty. As is common in Australia, the toilets have no way to dry your hands so everyone uses toilet paper and consequently there might not be any.

Nice place to visit. Sadly no tours of the lighthouse and the museum was not open when we were there (Jan 2017). Nice walks/trails around to explore as well.
