I have been to two seperate funerals conducted by Candlepines, both of them were exactly the same service with the words being said.

The celebrant was Bronwyn both times who is also the funeral director. Both families said we were told that Candlepines have a generic service that they use and the only decision that had to be made is what music you would like.

Both services were boring and nothing that represented the deceased persons life at all.

I would highly recommend that you do not go to this company unless you want a tick the box cookie cutter funeral.

My family used the services of Candlepines for my mother’s funeral a few weeks ago.
Candlepines were very responsive at the beginning and offered my sister some good advice however, we were also given incorrect information. For example, We were told that the attendees had to be 1.5m apart from each other - even if they were from the same household. This was incorrect and caused stress to some family members.
Overall, I found their conduct on the day of the funeral icy and it was very obvious that it was just business for them that needed to be conducted as efficiently as possible.
At the end, as one of the grandchildren stood at the coffin to say her last farewell, she broke down crying. Bronwyn came up and told her to move on.
Personally, I would never use Candlepines again.

Bronwyn was initially good in the enquiry stages. However during the planning process I found her to be quite cold and too busy to be able to fully prepare us for what was required given the time restraints.

It was a "bare bones" service that was provided to me and my family. Unfortunately I found that things/ information could have been provided and layed out in a more structured and considered way. Everything felt very rushed and not always well informed. It was unpleasant dealing with Bronwyn. Communication was not as professional or as considered as I would have liked, some messages beginning with "No" for example. Particularly when it came to making the video link available to heart broken family members who were not allowed to attend the service.

Bronwyn did her job and did not wrong us in any way, perhaps with all of her experience, she has been doing the job for too long now and has lost the people aspect. In hindsite, I would have wanted my experience with the funeral director, during an already difficult time to be warm, welcoming, relaxed, attentive, polite and considered. I know that's what I needed only because it wasn't provided. I now believe an important role of a funeral director is to make their clients feel safe, considered and cared for throughout the entire planning process. I am disappointed that my experience wasn't better, and rather than making me feel looked after, I felt anxious and uncomfortable dealing with Candlepines during an already difficult time. I want better for anyone else going through planning the funeral of a loved one.

Besides long awkward silence within the service, if you want generic rubbish (not exactly the words I would of liked to use) said about your loved one, this is the place to go. Not even showing an effort to obtain the flowers you ordered, Australian natives how hard could this be. Very disappointed. What is done is done, Would not recommend.
