Loved how close the kids could get. How many lizards we could pat, and all the staff patiently answered the kids questions.
Really cool place - so great the way the kids can interact with the turtles, lizards, frogs and snakes.
Alright, i’ll admit it. I’m definitely not a fan of snakes, at all. The thought of them puts me instantly into flight or fight mode and 99% of the time i’m in EXTREME flight mode. It was with gritted teeth initially that I bought my kids here, preparing myself for the horrors that lay inside and … while snakes and I still aren’t the best of friends, I was actually surprised to find that I enjoyed myself and learnt a lot. It is an extremely educational place with the most hands on, friendly staff. Walking around and seeing the animals, which of course aren’t just snakes but a varied variety of reptiles and amphibians, you learn to appreciate them for what they are. I must admit I have a bigger appreciation for them and certainly learnt some interesting facts in a safe environment. Definitely underlining that word ‘safe’ environment. The kids parties here are a must and you will hear squeals of joy and admire their wide and inquisitive eyes as they learn fun facts about reptiles and about how to be responsible around them. There are lots of hands on experiences as well which my kids loved.
So I faced my fears and survived, did it have something to do with the cages and glass in between us, maybe (although there are snakes out and about with staff) .. but at least Ive made an effort on my part to learn as much as I can about them and learn to try accept them for what they are and I think thats important.
Good collection of reptiles. Handlers let you touch many of them and they are all easy to see. Nice outdoor play area for kids.
This place was superb. The staff went of their way to tell you information about the different reptiles. They were amazing. A really great family experience.
This is an excellent place for a kids party. The staff are the most warm and genuine people that are very attentive and great with the kids. They have a large number of reptiles that the kids can pat.
I would highly recommend the Reptile Zoo. We recently had my son's 6th birthday there and all the children and adults loved it. The private show by Christian was educational and exceptionally entertaining at the same time. The kids loved the hands on experience with frogs, lizards, snakes, turtles etc.
Despite it's small size, we spent an easy 2 hours here admiring the lizards, snakes, turtles and crocs. You can get up close and personal with the reptiles and the kids volunteering during the school holiday were amazingly passionate and knowledgeable. We could have stayed longer. Do yourself a favour and visit this place if you are ever Canberra way.
The Reptile Zoo has a variety of reptiles and amphibians to view and to touch. We like patting Scar the Goanna, and seeing which snake is out and about with a staff member. I also love watching the turtles both in the inside tank and out in the pond.
All of the staff are knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. We have attended a number of birthday parties there too, including one for our seven year old daughter. The party rooms are generously sized, and BBQ facilities are available. The private shows never fail to amaze and entertain, and Peter and his crew are wonderful with kids, and very patient!
There is also a small playground with large animal figures, a sandpit of dinosaur bones, tables with puzzles, books and colouring materials, and the outdoor area is partially covered with shade cloth.
My kids love the Reptile Zoo so much we bought an annual pass for the whole family.
