Location is sensational. Service was good and food was solid. It’s just a great place to eat and drink with a view. Yes, they rushed us to turn the table over but they did it in a nice way. The Sydney Rock Oysters are a highlight.

Had a cocktail and a few bites in the 'lounge'. Atmosphere is a little strange. Cocktail tasted like sugar syrup and the naan bread was sweet like french crepes and super buttery.. service very average for a high end cafe. Won't come back again

This is my second review of Cafe Sydney! My first review was two years ago and the review was glowing! But unfortunately After about 5 visits all up I decided to invite 12 of my closest friends and family here to celebrate my graduation. I was excited to spend such a special night at my favorite restaurant. However I was left totally embarrassed after 5 of my guests including myself experience varying degrees of food poisoning after our shared meal together. Many of us actually had to take the next day of work. The restaurant was totally hostile when we called up to report it and incredibly rude and argumentative about it which really was just salt in the wound. They bizarre thing is we all ate totally different meals and none of us had shared any other meals in common that day. But the restaurant refused to believe us because we could not prove it conclusively (what ever happened to the customer is always right?). Despite the fact that doctors had confirmed food poisoning! I know know I will never go back to Cafe Sydney again after spending over $2.5k to not even get an apology is totally outrageous! But its pretty clear they have unhygienic practices.

Beautiful views and food. Service was amazing - you definitely get what you pay for. Book in early to get a table outside. The heat lamps and blankets make it so you can sit outside even when it's a bit chilly.

We went there for my mum's 50 bday. We had an amazing night with an amazing food. Beautiful location in historic Custom House offering a spectacular view over Sydney Harbour. Restaurant manager, Isobel was fantastic. Highly recommend and book in advance!

Enjoyed a beautiful seafood platter at this restaurant.
The platter was completely fresh nothing was fried.

Served on the ice and everything on display. It certainly made a big impression.

My wife and I have Cafe Sydney as our 'special' place to go for the 'special occasions', and our 30th Wedding Anniversary lunch yesterday was absolutely outstanding in every way. From the booking, reception, service, quality of food and view, the whole experience was truly wonderful. The staff made us feel very welcome and we enjoyed chatting to the pleasant wait staff during the afternoon (particularly Mason and Heather). Well done again Cafe Sydney.

The food was deliciously prepared. Met my expectation for the price I paid. Dining with the Harbour Bridge view in the night was an unique dining experience. The service staff was very good, with the food swiftly served. However, the distance between table to table was too close for comfort. It killed the magical feel.

If anywhere could epitomise the worst aspects of dining culture in this city then Cafe Sydney would take the cake. The staff are unashamedly arrogant, especially at front of house. Someone needs to reality check the majority of these glorified ushers and remind them that they are in the hospitality industry. Given the incredibly competitive environment in which they operate, Cafe Sydney seems to continually coast on its location, an attribute that redeems them less and less with every visit.
Having had an extremely dissatisfying experience for our anniversary last year we were offered a complimentary drink on our next visit which we took up for my birthday. It is astounding how they managed to put on an experience so utterly impersonal and offensive that we left before even receiving our 'free' drinks.
The food is mediocre at best especially considering the price. We have been fortunate enough to eat some amazing restaurants around the world and it is especially embarrassing to accept that this establishment is considered a flagship for visitors and locals alike.
To say that we were morbidly disappointed on both occasions is an understatement. Frankly, I am bewildered that Cafe Sydney have mustered as many positive reviews as they have. Don't even get me started on the disgusting aqua uniforms they dress their wait staff in.
There are so many amazing options in Sydney, I implore you to visit one of the smaller, more intimate establishments who actually care about their diners and uphold even the most basic principles of service.

Great view from the balcony. Staff did their best to accommodate us during a torrential downpour, surprisingly we kept quite dry whilst seated outside. Great food and fantastic cocktail list too.

The restaurant staff were very friendly and the food was delicious. Make sure you grab one of their awesome deserts! The vibe delivered by the restaurant was very welcoming and friendly. This place is great for functions or celebrating a special occasion. Make sure to book MONTHS ahead of your planned dining date! Plus the restaurant offers a wonderful view of the harbor and the harbor bridge, great for photos.

As a wedding celebrant I have enjoyed the food and service and location for client engagements and wedding parties here. I love the rocks and Sydney Cafe for about 20 years of memories at this location since the area evolved. Thank you for great events

Either I am too picky with my food or this place has spent all the money on paying rent for the premium location - the food could only be called mediocre here. Of course the view is nice - but so are most other places around the quay area. Let's get back to the food - the menu options are few. The prawn entree and the beef main I had were okay, but nothing exciting. If I may use the prawns as an example - you either go for the original flavour and let the freshness shine, or you go for something with intensity (pepper or chilly or whatever strike your fancy). But the dish I had was squarely in the middle. A very awkward place to be in my opinion. I'd love to see them be more inventive and board with the food so that it matches the pleasure brought by the nice view.
