Good place, pretty casual on a week day
If you go there on a Saturday night they have stronger rules: need to provide an ID to get in, they take a picture of you and no visible tattoo allowed

great venue to watch boxing / UFC fights on Sunday arvos. the bistro consistently makes awesome food from a great menu. The chicken breast with quinoa salad and mushroom sauce is absolutely delicious and awesome value. Always enjoy a visit too this joint.

As a regular to hillside I have to say every time I've been there they have always had great staff and security but tonight after an incident with some friends of mine I saw the full extent of how much security and staff step up to insure the safety, security and happiness of there customers and I appriciate everything they do

Myself and 6 other gentleman tried to enter the establishment on the advice of another that was very quiet. We were perfectly reasonable in our request at 2300 and were rejected on the simple reason that we were all men. Regardless of everything else, it is despicable to think in 2017 we would be rejected from anywhere as a paying patron simply because there were no "women" in our party. This shows the short sightedness of the security staff and subsequent sighting abilities from management staff for employing them. The establishment is a joke for a night out and I will never venture there again for anything ever.

Never coming here again. Not been allowed in 3 times. Once for wearing shorts, twice for 2 different pairs of shoes which were perfectly fine.

Great food but not for the kids. Having to walk through the smoking section to get to the bistro with the kids isn't great.
The drinks are extremely expensive $ 23 for 1 beer a small jug of soft drink (mostly ice ) and 1 normal soft drink makes it difficult to bring the family on a regular basis. I am not able to come back.

I frequent this place quite often, the experience will vary depending on the day of the week. Food is inexpensive, staff are friendly, good range of beers. Good for lunches and a quiet dinner on weeknights with the exception of Friday. Friday night seems to attract a few people who think they are the next WBC Heavyweight Champion, but can't tell the difference between orthodox and southpaw. But that's to be expected at any pub. Problem is sometimes toilets are dirty even during quiet periods, other than that it's a good place and would not hesitate to recommend for a quick schooner and feed

Denied entrance at 7pm for dinner because I have a tree tattoo on my arm. The next person was denied for not having leather shoes? Have to say for our first "outing" in Sydney, poor effort. I wanted a meal before heading home. Guess I needed a short skirt like the rest of the guests. $400 dinner you just missed guys, and the rest to follow..

Not a bad little bar/bistro. The food is ok, the vibes good, service isn't too bad.

Our waiter for the night, Ben was just an absolute delight. So attentive, helpful and when our meal had an unusual item in it, he was more than willing to make sure we ended the night with a smile. Such accommodating wait staff, such a great experience! Will definitely be back if Ben gets a raise - 5 stars

Too noisey and busy for a proper catch up in the evening, but during the day it would be much better i reckon. Didn't eat but the food looked really good. I personally hated that there were lots of people smoking in the central atrium section, but i am sure it's very popular with others. Staff very friendly and efficient.

Better than average pub food. The burgers are worth trying. The silly hilly burger takes a bit of effort. Drink prices are very reasonable.
