A very interesting place. All about Brett Whitely and family. You can see works done by him.
If you want to know about the artist this the place to come. Very informative.
Great gallery and a bit of a time capsule. Truely stupid that they donot allow photography. On the bright side i have uploaded an excellent rat pic
Amazing space set in the backstreets of Surrey Hills. Brett Whiteley's work is obviously incredible, and the staff are super helpful. To top it off, it's free!!??
Great place to take your date.
Beautiful space.. really amazing staff super friendly and a great neighbourhood to explore.
Gorgeous interior with fantasic gallery staff and beautiful exhibitions curated by Wendy Whiteley, he artist's widow. Definitely do a tour if one's going on while you visit- I learned a lot about the artist's method and inspiration that I wouldn't have known otherwise.
Nowadays a very gentrified area, but the studio gives a nice sense of what it might have been like when he lived there. And then there is Brett Whiteley's art, which is best left to the critics to rant about.
A nice iconic place to bring visitors. However, no photos allowed inside, and no selfies either, which is a bit anachronistic and makes it impossible to share on social.
If you like Brett Whiteley then this place is is great!
Went to catch the last day of Other Places Somewhere Else
"a visual diary of New York, Fiji, Tokyo, London and Tangier." It also included "Paris from his fist visit at 20 years of age, followed by later Paris series Regard de Cote 1989".
Realised later I'd missed the Tangier postcard series, and wondered if they were in this exhibition.
