I have just come across this lovely video from VIA Institute on Character who do research on using our character strengths to improve aspects of our lives. In this video, the narrator talks about managing work stress to enhance our wellbeing. Their research shows that 'learning' rather than 'relaxation' buffers stress because it builds our capacity; relaxation apparently dampens stress. Ha, go figger. Makes sense actually. So next time you feel stressed, tap into your strengths and savour a learning experience. Tell us how you feel afterwards.

As life has gotten busier and the year has gotten colder, my savouring has dwindled. Maybe savouring in warmer weather is easier. Nevertheless, each week I remind myself about savouring a moment. This week I have been savouring my soups. I love soups. They warm us up and they can provide enormous nutrition. Soups are the quintessential comfort food. This beetroot infused soup is a fav of mine. Marie See our newsletter for the recipe here https://mailchi.mp/f2017862e409/savour-a-winter-warmer

I have been savouring my son's photos of his Europe adventure so much. I can't get enough of them. I feel the anticipation of each day as if it was my trip or as if I was there right with them. I wish!! This photo of a Prague laneway is one of my favourites. The contrast in colours and building designs is very engaging. I can imagine myself being one of the passers by. What's your favourite holiday photo? Marie

I savoured a moment yesterday when my son and his girlfriend took off to Europe for the first time as young adults. As they turned around excitedly to wave their goodbye, in that moment I remembered the first time my husband and I took off for our first overseas adventure, the first time we took our sons overseas, and the first time my older son took off on his OS quest. I stood there, with tears, savouring their exhilaration of making their way into the big wild world.

Katinka, our meditation guru, started the 3 week meditation classes last night. You may have noticed the promotion in the BWC newsletter recently. Zenning out during meditation is something I've been savouring myself this year. People can sometimes find it challenging - including myself. But, you do really feel refreshed afterwards. Join the group over the next couple of Tuesdays and experience the calm it can bring.

Do you have a favourite quote? I recently read a fabulous one: "Be fearless in the pursuit of what sets your soul on fire". I can't find who said it but Ive been savouring it whenever I need an inspiration. If you are feeling stuck, overwhelmed by life's demands, or a little lost, savour the quote; it will hopefully encourage and motivate you as it has me.

Feeling cold, stiff, immobile? Holding stress in the neck and shoulders?

Massage can help lower stress levels. It can slow down a busy mind and can help us to connect to our physical body. Giving a true awareness of where the body is at.

The techniques of kneading, myofascial release and mobilisation can get blood circulating through the muslces and giving better range of movement.

On Friday night I facilitated my Boost Your Self-esteem With EASE workshop at VivaLife Montmorency with a dozen or more engaging participants. It wasn't until the morning after that I realised what a savouring moment that workshop presented us all. For the participants a moment in time to savour defining themselves by their strengths. And for me to savour what I love doing most; helping others to inspire their potential. What are you doing when you are being yourself?

You havent savoured a moment in the garden until you’ve gotten this close to your plants. A very relaxing pastime. Losing myself in the garden is something I am still working on. Not for my husband, however, who took this shot of these sticky insect catching tentacles with a close up lens. Now, that’s savouring the moment!!

Positive Thinking, Busting the Mystery on Self-Belief. We’ve heard it all before: Think positively and then you’ll feel good about yourself. But how true is this? And how can we harness positivity and bring self-belief to life? https://mailchi.mp/…/is-there-a-way-to-maintain-feeling-goo…

Have you ever savoured silence? I found myself yesterday afternoon chipping away at domestics in complete silence. I usually have music on or the TV in the background or someone in the house is being noisy. When I became mindful of the silence, I just went with it. Very nurturing Marie

Here's a favourate savouring moment - a massage. Have you savoured one recently? I've made it a commitment to savour one a month this year. Well, actually, Ive been quite self indulgent so far and savoured one a week for the first month, currently savouring fortnightly, and going monthly soon - haha. Our beautiful remedial massage therapist, Beverley, has been releasing all the tension and toxins from my body. If you haven't had one for a while, go on, spoil yourself. Marie

Think about what moments you may have savoured this week. One of the moments I savoured, was spending time with my daughter playing Chinese Checkers. Being there, present and in the moment, enjoying her company and doing something fun with one of the special people in my life. Louise

I’ve just added another activity to my Savouring Life list - have a weekend on your own and do whatever you want. Share with us a blissful weekend you’ve had on your own.

With the boys away, I spent 2 days at home quietly on my own reading, watching girly movies, reading, going for a very long bike ride, reading, a few vinos, and more reading. I can’t tell you how energised I feel today.

From my savouring life list, I took advantage of lying in one morning. What have you chosen from your list this week? Add your comments below.

Sunday morning I woke up early (as usual) and decided to practice lying in (rare). I became aware of how I was feeling and thinking. I was mindful of the stillness in the house, the sound of the odd car in the distance, and the warmth of the blankets. My thoughts were random images so I harnessed them into pleasant experiences, I became aware of dozing on and off for a couple of hours, almost hypnotically. I woke up refreshed mid morning, ready to embrace a casual Sunday. Marie

This quote reminds us of our ability to change from deep within. Often you may have the desire to really change and it can sit with you for quite some time.

How to move the desire into action may take guidance, insight and accountability to become reality; then change is able to happen. It moves from being a thought to an action.

That's what we're here for, to get the "possible" out of what sometimes feels impossible for you.

Our team is back for the year, ready to inspire you!
