I am a major home builder in Sydney, We have built hundreds of homes in Sydney over the past 15 years. Aroona pools is by far the worst pool builder and business we have ever dealt with. We have literally dealt with thousands of other businesses from small to large size and Aroona Pools tops them all as the worst. It has been over 5 months waiting to complete the pool works when we were ready for them in October 2022 with landscaping and pool fencing certificate completed in October 22, It is now Feb 23 and we are still waiting for the completion works to start.
From daily lies saying trades are turning up then know body does, Management will call you today then know body does, including scope such as pool seat pedestals in the contract and turning around last minute saying they don't know how to build them, then admitting they haven't budgeted enough to complete the work.
Aroona pools will no longer answer our calls, they wont return our calls and we are now pursuing the company with legal action.
Please stay away from this pool builder as they are completely unprofessional and helplessly incompetent in the delivery of their pools. They will take 95% of the contract funds and delay the project completion as there is only 5% remaining on their contracts. They seriously should not be allowed to trade with this level of service that they provide to their customers.
Don't make the same mistake as we did, pick a pool builder that has honest glowing reviews to their name.response / report this review -

I found them to be a hidden gem. My pool was built during pandemic. We had to go back and forth with the HILLS SHIRE council and Aroona took all the responsibilities and patiently worked with the COUNCIL. My pool construction was tricky but they came up with a realistic design and i was very impressed. Their initial quote and final price almost exactly same, which I was very impressed.

DO NOT DO IT TO YOURSELF. This company is the most incompetent, unprofessional company, I have ever dealt with. Where do I start, there was a stuff up at every stage of the pool construction and they seem to have a real issue with following plans.
Issues we encountered below:
- They put the spa in the wrong position (not according to plans)
- They failed to put piers under the spa despite it being on the engineers drawings, we pointed it out but apparently they knew better as said it wasn't required. They then had to rectify when engineer pointed it was required.
- They failed to remove formwork around pool (we had to do it ourselves so things could progress)
- Pool was built to incorrect height, yes I kid you not !!! (300mm too high) Despite us pointing it out when it was formed up, again they knew better and couldn't be told. Eventually when the certifier confirmed it was too high and wouldn't get certified, they had to redraw and resubmit plans which caused major delays.
- When they poured the concrete they sprayed it into the spa inlets causing them to be blocked and not work.
- They failed to connect one pool outlet return pipe and then poured concrete over the top so they couldn't rectify it.
- They chipped several coping tiles during construction
- They built a retaining wall that was not straight and initially not according to the engineers plans, we had to be right on them to make sure it was built as per the plans (they had an electrician build it - go figure !)
- We had to take them to NCAT to get them to rectify all their incompetent defects as they failed to rectify them in the time frame specified by the contract.
- There was Zero communication from the so called "project manager" and what was supposed to be a 12 week construction took 7 months and we only just received the final certification 18 months after they started.
- Subcontractors would turn up un announced with no one was on site to give them any direction. It felt like I was project managing the build myself.
When we tried to raise issues with the Director Lin, she refused to speak to us and sent her husband (not connected to the company) around to try and "sort" things out, which included verbal threats and intimidating behaviour.
To compensate for all their stuffs ups, they did build us a retaining wall (that was not straight) and concreted around the pool and acted like they were doing us a favour.
If you are unfortunate enough to get them to build you a pool, make sure the liquidated damages in your contract is more than $50 per week for a maximum of 4 weeks, as there is no way they will finish it in 12 weeks and they can take as long as they like with only a $200 penalty. Don't be fooled by the friendly salesman Rod, as he will drop you like a bad habit as soon as you sign. They will try and cut corners wherever they can and their work is not to a high standard.
What was supposed to be a fun, joyous thing for our family was the most stressful thing I have ever done due to their incompetence. I have dealt with many tradesman and contractors in my time and this company is by far the worst. Do yourself a favour and go with another company that knows what they are doing. Don’t be fooled by the positive reviews on their website. Check out the negative reviews on other forums and google reviews on their old addresses, same issues we encountered.response / report this review -

We had good experience building our pool with Aroona. Considering the lockdown and construction pause in NSW, they did a great job to deliver a high quality pool in the earliest time frame manageable. Great service from the team in keeping us updated on the progress. Definitely recommend them.
