Our group of five cyclists stayed there, and we were able to park the bikes securely. The 'family room' provided cheap and comfortable accommodation for the touring group.

The rooms were very neat and tidy with all amenities available within the room. Short walk to supermarkets and eating places and a short stroll to the railway station. Wifi available in all rooms.

Unpretentious but warm and comfortable for an overnight stay in winter. Bed was comfortable rather than too hard or soft. No lift. Two doors down from a very large second hand bookshop. Would happily stay there again.

The price is good but the cleanliness was below what I'd call acceptable. There was what looked like blood residue in the sink and toilet as if it had just received a quick wipe down. There was also a water leak in the bathroom that covered the floor in water. I've been here a few times and generally it's ok, perhaps this was a one off but it was quite a poor experience.

This place is so full of character, my family loved it. Two adults and two kids staying in the family room, it was so lovely with high ceilings and plenty of room. The rooms are simple, and fit for purpose. Nothing flash or glamorous, of course, but we loved it, like you love anything grand and old.
