This is nothing like every pub or café I've ever been to! This is an old monastery adapted to receive as many beer lovers as possible, with very friendly prices. It was such a nice experience, even in plain winter, I couldn't resist a cool beer, märzen, with some pretzels and appetizers from the many small food stands inside the Augustinerbräu. All was fine. People were happy and singing and everyone was friendly! DON'T MISS THIS if you like good beer and fun! I'll come back tomorrow!

I have to say, this place is a lot of fun. Several large beer Halls (non-smoking!) with a fun, yet family friendly, atmosphere. Lots of snack food options (traditional Austrian: pork, sausage, Schnitzel, but also bakery and antipasta for vegetarians), but you can take your own food!

The beer is fine, nothing special, but the novelty of getting big tankards is fun. Reasonable prices, cash only.

Sitting under the shade of the trees in this beer garden is one of the most relaxing things to do in Salzburg. It was nice to see silver-haired people meeting here to enjoy a beer like how they seemed to have been doing for years. The brewery has existed since 1621 which is mind-boggling. The food is less impressive than its history, but appropriate for a casual setting. I would also recommend trying the Almdudler drink which is a fizzy Austrian invention.

One of the best beer gardens in Europe! It's a hidden gem right on the outskirts of downtown Salzburg. We spontaneously stumbled upon this place and were blown away. It's Austria's largest beer garden! Grab a mug, rinse it at the station, and have it filled straight from the barrel! They have various authentic and traditional German and Austrian food inside. Grab your liter and plate of food and take a seat outside under the trees. I will 100% be back!

It' s a life experience to drink fresh beer from the barrel! It" s a must visit place in Salzburg. Fresh beer for only 4€ per 0.5 lt.

This place rocks! Buy your beer from downstairs. Get your food from one of the stalls upstairs, then grab a table under the trees and find yourself as close to heaven as you could get in this life. Made by monks this is holy water! Even if you're not really into beer, this is yummy. We also had the pork, sauerkraut and potato dish. Excellent value, delicious and big enough for 2 to share. I think we'll go back tonight.

Former monastery turned beer hall. If the weather is pleasant be sure to enjoy the bier garden otherwise there are several indoor seating areas. There are also several food stalls selling delicious sausages and other delicacies!

One of the oldest and most interesting beer gardens in Salzburg, the "Bräustübl" is something you have to experience as long as the weather is nice and you can sit outside. Indoors is interesting as well, but quite noisy.
What you do is - you bring your own food and while one of your party members guards the table like a precious treasure (what it is when the weather is nice), the others go get the beer at the bar. Pay the cashier to get a ticket - pick your mug, rinse it at the fountain and have the guy at the counter fill it up in exchange for the ticket.

The "food court" is interesting and I suggest you get a couple fresh pretzels and some of the spirally cut radishes they sell. You can also try some of the other stuff, but be careful with the shop at the end of the corridor that sells the egg salad and sausage mayonnaise stuff My friends and I stay away from them for a reason.
