The good thing is that you can get a bus to almost anywhere in Argentina. There are also buses going to other countries in South America. However, the facility is poorly maintained. It is a huge place and can be confusing. There is an information booth downstairs that can help you.

The bus station is actually pretty okay, as long as you follow three rules:
1) get there during daytime (as long as it's light out, there's nothing to worry about)
2) arrive from the city center side (e.g. Plaza Gran. Martin, and/or subte linea C) as to avoid the slums
3) arrive a bit early (30 mins before departure) so you'll have plenty of time to figure out where you need to be. Information screens are all around and accurate.response / report this review -

A shame for tourists and travelers. Nearby to a ugly slum. Prices inside are too high. Filthy and poor maintained bathrooms but a so called cleaners demands a pay. No signs in English. There is suspicion of a Mafia-style management. Tres cruces in Montevideo is for far much better. Despite police presence, you still feel unsafe. Not worthrth a Zero star rating

Horrible place. Dirty. If you want a clean toilet you have to pay and even that is not that clean. No free WiFi. No posibillity to take a shower. They really don't care about tourists. Our bus had a delay and it wasn't announced not even when it arrived at the station. We just saw it there. The guy who puts the luggages in the buses asked us for tips 3 times.

Lugar horrible y sucio. Poca seguridad. Caótico. No se escuchan los parlantes. Las pantallas de información desactualizadas, en especial cuando un servicio se atrasa.

A central terminal for buses that come and go to all the rest of the country. Not recommended as a tourist spot. If you're taking a bus, consider boarding somewhere else. Food is overpriced, no charging outlets, poor security and overall quite run down. If you have to catch a bus, it is best to wait until the last minute to come here

Basically the center of the busses and trains. Mainly long distance busses take over from here.
Just be very aware it ain't the safest place on the nights.

As far as bus terminals go a good one. Has some nice restaurants and good security. Taxis in front try to rip you off big time.

It's a shame that Buenos Aires has such a terrible bus station. It's dark and dirty, although the three person police teams strategically placed outside the building make one feel a bit safer. I've been here many times, and the bus service itself can be excellent, but Retiro still warrants a one star review. There are brand new moving walkways which have been installed but aren't used and have now fallen into disrepair. Nobody takes any pride in what could be a beautiful old station.
