Very well organised event, 10 us dollars to enter on the Sunday. BBQ great food, well organised and not too expensive. Drinks sold in plastic cups or bottles, toilets were clean and monitored. Steel band until 7 followed by a great girl singer. Really fun and not too crowded in early June. Taxis wait or some usually around after. Views worth the trip too.
It was not high season, however it it a beautiful place to visit. They had live music, food and drinks. The food was good although it was an unusual combination; I ordered a cheeseburger and it came with green salad, potato salad and rice with red beans. In regards to customer service, the one on the grill was rude, but for the rest of them, it was ok.
Great venue! Steel band was great. Food was awesome. Sunset was amazing! Pics don't do it justice.
While on holiday in Antigua i visited twice.
Went during the day,and there was only a cupple of other people there.
It's a fantastic view. Well worth going.
Then went again for the Sunday night party night.
It was packed. It was still good. But forget trying to get sunset pictures. Unless you don't mind getting hundreds off head's in your picture. Party night is on Sundays.
Good bands.Steel band and reggae band.Good atmosphere. Really enjoyed it.
But do go in the day. Yoy will get great picture's.
Stunning views. Excellent food and great music. Go for the sunset.
Lovely place. Good for taking pictures.
Drove quite a while to get there. The only local food was jerk chicken and some lobster. Very touristic. Plus we had to pay 2 times to get there. Once for getting into the reservation area, second to get to Shirley Heights (which is in the reservation area).
Beautiful views of sunset with steel drum music, the smell of BBQ and $5 (ECD) beer's. We walked the short (20 mins/ 1km) steep way up from Galleons beach which was beautiful, hot and sweaty. We walked the long (1hr 40 / 3km) way down which was a little dangerous (cars/ dark/ we were drunk)
Great panorama and wonderful views of most of the southern coast areas like English or Falmouth harbours. A good place to spend some time to discover a little bit of Antigua’s culture and history.
Always love a trip to Shirley Heights. Awesome views of English and Falmouth Harbours. Excellent drinks and food available, especially on Sunday evenings. I think it's the same on Thursday evenings up there, but not sure.
Great views from the topwhere you can see Montserrat and Guadalupe too. The "party" night on Sunday was highly recommended to us so we duly went. Not being a party animal I was a bit apprehensivebut a few runs later I even got up and danced.
Get there at 4 pm for a seatand the music starts off with a steel pan band who play with high energy for about 3 hours, lots of your favourite songs They are then followed by a reggae band, again pretty high energy. There's a BBQ all night long and it has a good variety of food at reasonable prices.
We stayed till about 10pm when people were drifting away and had a thoroughly enjoyable evening
The Historic Shirley Heights and the Lookout Restaurant and Bar has one of the Most Iconic Scenic Views of The Nelsons Dockyard, the surrounding English Harbour and beyond (sometimes way beyond to Montserrat and other neighbouring islands depending on the visibility. The Historic Fort with many restored structures and some ruins is a definite point of attraction and the panoramic 360 degree views are simply spectacular, providing the backdrop for many photos with the awesome sunset or the splendid land and seascape.
A starting or ending point for many scenic hiking trails including The Carpenter Rock Trail and a venue for many events including the now even more famous regular Sunday Sunset Lime. Popular everyday of the week with something for everyone; Vendors, Taxis, Visitors and patrons of the Bar and Restaurant (try the BBQ Ribs, delicious) and others enjoying the well kept gardens and grounds with a really good view and the history aficionados. The post sunset, twilight and evening views are also spectacular, I have not yet witnessed the dawn view it should be just as good as the other times as well.
A definite must for any Island Tour Itinerary, a historic point of interest which lives up to and way surpasses the name. The Shirley Heights is a rewarding place to visit on many levels.
Excellent views of English Harbour. Party night is Saturday, music and food for purchase $25 EC per person entry fee.
A bit too touristy, but good vibes. Food is average, both traditional music and reggae concert are very good. Concerts are only on Sundays.
Worth arriving between 4-5pm to avoid crowds and have a chance for a sunset view and photos. Stay until at least 7pm for reggae.
Great views all around. Good photo ops. Free bathrooms. Free parking. Handicap accessible. Short film on history of the area. Gift shop. Approximately a 30 minute car ride from downtown St. John's.
This place is one of the most beautiful and breath taking views in the world. It s easy to get up the hill and the food is amazing. It is a kind of island party every Sunday. Highly recommended. They play music with their local instruments all day. The sunset is simply stunning.
Great views and history education. We missed it, but the Sunday BBQ is supposed to be great.
Best place for views of the harbour and sea, party and music on Sunday lots of people having a great time and as a bonus is a nice hike to the fort and back.
Go on the Sunday. That's all I need to say. Plenty of rum and dancing later Needless to say I was struggling the next day! Fantastic evening out.
Amaizing placeI was speechless when I saw the sunset, beautiful!!! View is great. Is good to arrive before sunset and then wait for live music on Sunday. I had a blast!
Excellent tourist spot. The view is amazing and its people very friendly. Historic places that make you feel very good the old buildings are very beautiful and its port is one of the best in the caribbean
Oh my God I love this place. This was one of the highlights of my trip. The views where Majestic the music had you up and ready to party it was Lively and relaxing. I good place to order for the chicken and the potato salad was so tasty, yummy yummy. If you ever have the privilege of coming to Antigua this place is a sure-fire must. You will not be disappointed. But you really should wear comfortable shoes because it's a hill and your on rocks and everyone looks relaxed so no high heels for this ladies LOL
Awesome view of the island. Fun place on Sunday evening if you like live music, booze and dancing.
Such a good visit on a Sunday night! They have card machines for bar but bring cash too. Such an amazing view and the band at night is great fun! Watch out for the Rum Punch!!!
A must see if in Antigua. Beautiful view day or night. Thu and Sun nights there is live music and a great atmosphere. What a place to watch the sun set, drink rum and dance the night away!
1 of the most picturesque views on the island, and the area is drenched in deep island history. The Sunset party on a Sunday gives visitors a real taste of island/Antiguan style partying! Will be memorable for all who visit and a favorite for visitors FOR SURE!
Shirley Heights overlooking English and Falmouth Harbours, the panoramic view from Shirley Heights takes in the neighboring islands of Guadalupe and Montserrat, the latter of which is home to an active volcano. While the views are spectacular any time of day, nothing can beat a night time visit where you can watch the sun set over the Caribbean.
Great fun. Good music, food and drinks but could do with more female toilets.
Great views and good food but it's no bargain. You'll pay a $10 per person cover just to get into the Sunday night "party" which wouldn't be a terrible deal if they didn't pack the place so full you can't move. The BBQ is good but expensive. My advice go anytime other than Sunday night.
This was the place to be on January 1. Everyone from the island meets here to watch the sunset and then enjoy a cookout and dancing. The jerk chicken and ribs are a MUST. They are delicious. The music was great and everyone was dancing and having a good time. I loved the historical feel of the place and enjoyed sitting on the lawn and enjoying the evening.
Great views and sunset, food and drink are a bit expensive, especially if you've been on an all-inclusive holiday and been getting freebies. They had steel band playing , which where great to get the party started. After they finished you was treated to the up and coming band of the Caribbean islands Axis. I think 4 hours was enough time for this trip, as we was getting a little board towards the end.
