The Mckinnon's Pond is not a pond in the strict scene of the word but rather a lagoon, that is one of its many secrets. The pond or rather lagoon is quite large by Local standards and occupy an extensive geographical area. Located in the McKinnons area, Yorks Village, Sand Haven and the Dickenson Bay area to name a few this is a rather important wet land area for Antigua and Barbuda.

The McKinnons pond is a habitat for shore birds and waterfowls of various kinds and species (bird watching is a popular activity at this location), fishes and other marine life are present as well. This area enjoys environmental protection from Government and NGOs and most importantly the users and visitors to the location. The shoreline is well kept with park benches in areas and the birds and other wildlife seems to enjoy the location.

The McKinnons Pond is a good place for avian photography and other non-bathing activities as well. A worthwhile area to visit and spend some quiet time.
