Mount Obama formerly Boggy Peak is the Highest Point in Antigua and Barbuda and it is located in the southern mountain region of the Island of Antigua. I feel a little guilty to report ascending to the peak driving in Air-Conditioned comfort but rest assured that I have walked the whole up on more than one occasion in the past. Mount Obama has quite a 360 degree scenic Panoramic Picturesque View of almost the whole of the Island and it was simply breathtaking. I must thank staff members of the ZDK 97.1FM Radio Station for transportation and access to the summit ( and yes, before you ask, I made a point to stand on the highest point in the country and have the selfie to prove it).

The atmosphere and ambiance was great and standing on the rooftop of one of the buildings provides a more unobstructed panoramic view of the surrounding areas. Having a Birds-eye view of the area was quite interesting and rather refreshing not withstanding the slight showers which did not dampen the spirits but increased visibility afterwards.

The whole experience for me was richly rewarding and enlightening and one that I will treasure for a long while. The lush vegetation and the clean crisp breeze was an added bonus to complement the awesome scenery.

We went up from the north side on the trail. Access from the south is a road. It's an intermediate, not dangerous hike through dense vegetation and some really cool giant bamboo clusters. Less than one hour bottom to top if you're in any kind of shape. You can walk around the exterior of the cell tower fencing to see great southern and northwestern views.

WARNING!!! We parked at the picnic tables mid-day on a Tuesday, and found the gate locked (us locked in) when we returned. Good advice is to park outside the gate, and walk in the last few hundred yards to the trailhead.
