Lovely layout addressing an admittedly difficult subject to chronicle the history of Dubai.
Don't be deceived by the first courtyard into which you enter after buying your ticket - there is much more to see after walking down the slope and indoors including the story of how Dubai came about and the modem history as well as the local culture.
I enjoyed this as it added a different dimension to our Dubai stay.
A pinch of indispensable taste of the old Dubai life and charm! Definitely suggest a walk through the area and conclude evening at the Fort and the museum! Loved the rendezvous of colors and vibes :)
A good place to get to know of Dubai's past. It's heritage and how it transformed itself. The place gives you a glimpse of the cultural past, the local customs and livelihoods of the people living here before it became melting pot of cultures from across the globe. It's a nice trip down the history.
A good place to spend an hour or so and should be kept on the itenirary while visiting dubai.
It's good museum which reflects history of Arab people in Dubai. It's ticket is just 3 Durhams so quite affordable for anyone. If you have interest in the history then this is a place for you to visit or if you are a employee & tired of arrogant Arab employer or his arrogant family then you must bring them to this museum to recall them that how poor their grand parents were just few decades ago & how their forefather used to live a hard life. May be after visiting this museum, they start to show respect to expats like you. Anyway, I like this place in Dubai.
Nice fort showing history of Dubai. The architecture is typically Arabian. Inside you can have the feel of how the old villages in the area must have felt. There are different boats and other things from the old era on display. In the basement there is a museum made of statues giving a fill of the old era and also a film showing how Dubai was made. The film shows in details of how small Dubai was and at what grand scale it got to. There is also a shop of memorabilia and other items where you can get many things like keychains, magnets, bags, etc.
It's a good place to visit. Let's you know what is the history of Arab and emirates. If you love exploring historical facts this place will serve you good source of information. You can reach here using Dubai metro. Very near to the metro station
I really enjoyed this muesum. The price is fantastic! We stayed about 1-2 hours. It's fun to see the outside parts and then go underneath the fort. Lots of great information about Dubai, The Middle East, history, culture and the landscape. It covers a wide range of topics. I think it was really well done. Everything was working and intact.
If you are fascinated by history of a place you are visiting, then this is the place to be. They have explained the birth and rise of Dubai in very interesting and detailed way. You really get to know a lot about Dubai and it's culture, the lifestyle of people here, the food they eat, the way they used to live, the sports and social activities they engage in. A great place to learn a lot about Dubai. And in the end, you can buy soveniers for your friends at home.
Came as part of a city tour trip. Don't let the size fool you because there is a massive air conditioned underground section that seems to go on and on and we had to rush this part due to our tour. Otherwise quite interesting, goes right back to long before there was a city here
Nice place to see the history of Mediterranean. You can see how quickly European changed the landscape of Middle east. It takes you back in time while you venture from one room to another . Very nice place!
Al fahidi fort and Dubai museum is the same place. The museum displays old emirati culture and the history. Its a good place know about Dubai. 1 hour is enough to get around the museum. If you like reading all the important facts in the museums then it would take 2 hrs.
It was a great experience. I was amazed about how much there was to see. I was a little worried about getting to the Museum, but it was an easy walk from the Metro.
Nice place with interesting exhibits. You can spend few hours here if you want to read all the descriptions and see everything. You can learn about history of Dubai, and about life of Arabs before the oil. I would give 5 stars if all the descriptions were readable. Some of them were poorly lit, some were worn out. Still most of them were good. Worth the visit.
The exhibits are good and gives you an appreciation for Dubai's history, how far they've come, how they did it, and how quickly they did it. Downside is the layout does not accommodate the high volume of traffic that they get these days. Droves of tour buses showing up means you can barely walk around and enjoy the museum. They should probably implement some form of crowd control.
A historical place telling the history of Dubai A Must See
The place is located at the Fahdi Fort and its tells the humble beginning of Dubai. The Museum itself is a wonderful place to learn the history of Dubai. There are galleries at the Top and the basement leading to the exit. The galleries at the bottom take you through the history, the people, their trade, their lifestyle and many more. It is a wonderful place and a must visit in Dubai.
The place could have been more interactive with some fun activities for Kids and elders to learn culture. The disconnect was the journey from such humble beginning to such great height today.
