This past weekend I spent a very enjoyable day golfing at the Els Club but unfortunately my game was not too good so I decided to try and get a quick lesson and due to my fine experience at the Els they seemed an obvious choice. I noted they had a Butch Harmon Academy so I contacted them and the young lady I spoke was extremely helpful and provisionally booked me for a 8pm group lesson that evening. I had a trip to Abu Dhabi and the young lady rang me on route to confirm the lesson with Jamie at 8pm. I had to cut short that visit to get back in time as she advised me to get there a bit early to warm up. I arrived at 7:40 pm and went to the bag drop and asked where I can meet Jamie? I was directed to the floodlit range. I then met one of the staff at the range and again asked where can I meet Jamie. I was told to go and use the range and he will come over. 8pm comes and goes, a few people using the range, two young guys seeming to get a lesson at the end of the range. At 8:15 the employee I met at the range drove past me and said Jamie was on the putting green (it was the guy with the two young men). At this point it was gone 8:15 and no one had even come to look for me. I put my clubs back in my car and then I went over to Jamie and asked why he did not come looking for me. “You weren’t confirmed”. Of course I was confirmed, the young lady rang me to confirm. I cut short my visit to Abu Dhabi to return. Jamie apologised and said I could join in now but I declined as a quarter of my expected lesson had passed. I am sure it is just a misunderstanding but it is the Academy staff responsibility to ensure bookings run smoothly. I hope they improve their processes from this feedback. They have fantastic facilities so I am sure they will be a big success and I wish them well.
