  10. Lake Kariba is the biggest man made lake and reservoir by volume in the world.

  11. Kariba Dam took only 3 years to build - 1956 to 1959.

  12. The capacity of Kariba Dam is about 185 cubic kilometres which is 185 trillion litres of water. (Yep Zimbos you know trillions! 😀)

  13. “Operation Noah” is the name given to the rescue efforts when the flood plain was filled with water and animals had to be rescued including lots of dangerous snakes and bigger species such as rhinos.

  14. Nyaminyami is believed to be the Zambezi river god. A year after construction began, an unprecedented flood stormed down the gorge destroying the foundations of the dam added to heavy rains coming months earlier than expected. (So much for superstitions 😅)
