The Department of Local Governance Studies Receives a Shot in the Arm The University’s Department of Local Governance Studies is pleased to announce receipt of a grant from the Centre of African Studies (CAS) at the University of Copenhagen, Denmark, to support fieldwork activities for a selected number of research projects being compulsorily undertaken by final-year students pursuing a BSc Hons in Local Governance Studies Degree. The grant, which is limited and can support a... maximum of 50 students with relatively modest amounts, is made possible within the framework of a wider research project being conducted by Professor Amanda Hammar, a Zimbabwean based in Denmark, who is the Director of CAS. The projects that would be considered for support under the one-off grant should relate in some way to one (or more) of the following broad themes that fall within the overall framework of Professor Hammar’s project: Urban governance Public service delivery Property, housing and urban land Urban displacement and/or resettlement Urban citizenship Urban transformation in contexts of crisis A fairly wide range of specific topics covering a diversity of actors and/or activities could fit within the given broad themes. Students are encouraged to take advantage of this offer and apply for consideration in the allocation of the research grant. For more information regarding the application of the grant, please contact the Department of Local Governance Studies.
