Sadly Lusaka Club didn't get a chance to host #RogerFederer when he visited Lusaka, Zambia recently (Lol!!). ;-) Anyway, we are glad that one of our own, an upcoming tennis player/coach, Muwele Chiwena, had a chance to meet The Legend!

Muwele Chiwena - thanks for spotting the club t-shirt ;-)

Press Release Lusaka Tennis Section launches free youth programme ‘Open Court’ In an effort to support tennis in Zambia and get more young Zambians on to the courts, the Lusaka Tennis Section of the Lusaka Club is launching the new youth programme ‘Open Court’ on the 3rd of June, 2017. The Tennis Section has partnered with a number of schools in Lusaka, and will offer free coaching for a group of girls and boys on a weekly basis. The section’s professional coaches will be in... charge of coaching the kids and tennis racquets and balls will be provided. An initial 15 girls and boys selected from neighbouring schools will participate in the programme. With time, the aim is to grow the initiative so that more kids can be included. The long term aim is to open up the sport to a new generation of players. As the Chairperson of the Tennis Section Loveson Chizyuka says ‘We are hoping that this initiative can grow and really open up our sport to a new generation of Zambians. We want to help young Zambians who may not otherwise have had the opportunity to discover the joys of tennis’. The Lusaka Tennis Section would like to thank the following sponsors for their kind support to this exciting new initiative: Airtel, British International Primary School, Circletrans, DSTV, First National Bank, and Sterelin.
