First off, being there was by far the highlight of our trip. The accommodation is simple but comfortable. The staff are fantastic and work very hard to ensure that everyone is happy with their services. Right from your accommodation to diving specifics.
Pro's
- Very affordable lodging and diving. We did our CMAS dive course here and where blown away at the level of instruction. We are both confident to dive ourselves after the course.
- The dive masters and Skipper where fantastic. Once the dive procedure brief was over the DM would discuss and explain the micro ecosystems on that section of reef we would be diving. This really added to the experience underwater, and was a great educational experience.
- The honesty system at the bar was great ! and so where the cooking facilities/ kitchen area. ( You will get allocated some space in a fridge. I highly recommend purchasing food from Hluhluwe so you can cook your own meals on the Braai area. The staff pretty much taught us how to braai)
- There are Shops and restaurant's in Sodwana itself. Definitely go have a pizza at The Lighthouse.
Cons
- The driveway can be a little confronting but can be done easily in a 2WD. DO NOT TAKE THE LEFT TRACK!!! we got stuck for about 45 minutes. Drive UNDER THE SIGN and you will be fine.
We stayed with Triton for 7 days they where kind enough to give us a free nights stay.
I cannot talk highly enough about triton or the Sodwana bay area. It is a great place to immerse yourself in South African culture. And the diving is truly phenomenal.
