Wasn't too happy with the service, very few wait staff running around to different tables, they made one client write their own order down on a sheet of paper, lol who does that???
Glasses where chipped, one had lipstick stains, wait staff seemed a bit confused when asked to make a passion fruit beverage. Also took very long to make it, and that wasn't because they didn't know, it was just laying there on the bar counter waiting to be mixed, and when I went to check up why it was taking so long the waiter that was trying to help me, made it instead of the lady bar keep.
Meals lacked salt, but I guess that's a matter of opinion, so no harm there, curry portions were good, however the grills were dry, no extra portion of garlic or lemon sauce as an add on,
But I don't know, I guess if they had more staff it would've been better.
After returning to durban after 8 years I tried to go for a mutton bunny at what was once one of the best places to have a bunny. What a disappointment, first weer were met by rude and arrogant waiters. When complaining to the manager about it, it was simply brushed of like nothing serious. Then on ordering the bunny we were told we couldn't eat it there add bunny chow was not really part of their menu. I was shocked and simply had enough of this unfriendly, unprofessional institution. I will never go back to this place and eternally definitely never recommend it. Disgusting, whatever happened to customer is king.
Nice restaurant with excellent sea views. Set up is a bit uncomfortable. Simple tables and chairs all over the restaurant. Food was good but wasn't worth the price. Prawn chutney was a bit oily. Definitely will return to try other stuff if in the area.
This is my favourite curry restaurant in Durban. The service is excellent and the food exceptional. If you remember it from many years ago you will not be disappointed.
The new Seabelle is great. Curry is incredible.
Nice indian food. Its a nice seat out in the neighbourhood of La Mercy beach.
Good food and takeaway.
Also spacious enough for a private function. And alcohol is accommodated.
Crab curry was amazing but the rice came with it was a disappointment. I’d recommend their chicken liver and samosas. Both were delicious. Service was good. But I would not like to go there again as there are better places to have Indian in Durban.
Still serving after 45 years, the Seabelle is a stalwart of classic Durban curry dens. For a good sampling of the menu try sharing a combination (hot) prawn curry and mutton & bean curry with (medium) mutton and chicken curries. Served with savoury rice, salad and pickles.
If your looking for an authentic durban style Indian curry at the beach then this is the place to visit. Famous for their prawn curry which is a winner, but there crab curry and calamari & chips are also worth a try. Must note that there is a new owner this year and menu and recipes have changed and the restaurant has been updated and cleaned. Waiters and staff friendly and kids are welcomed.
The restaurant was recently revamped. Ordered the famous prawn curry. The portion size was good and there were enough prawns in it. Service was good. Waiters checked on the table often. Good view of the sea.
Fake Seabelle. Nothing like it once was. They spent on decor. Should spend more on chef. What a disappointment.
Extremely poor service and zero management. Overpriced food. We ordered the hot prawn curry but ended up with mild curry. The owner was extremely rude and uninterested when I brought it to his attention. He looks as seedy as the place does, more like a pimp with gold jewellery. Not worth another visit. No star for this place
Revamped and clean......still best prawns curry! Service was not good
5 stars for the curry and the sea view, and it has recently been renovated.
