A fantastic place that is preserving South Africas transport heritage. Book a tour and be guides through the masses of steam trains, tractors and other vehicles including Voortrekker wagons.

Our visit to the Sandstone heritage days was an experience of a lifetime. Highly recommended for steam enthusiasts as well as any person interested in heavy machinery from days gone by.

You have to pop in if you are in the area and spend a day. There's a war museum, more old tractors than you can imagine and then there's the trains.
Trains of all sorts and age, plenty has been completely restored and in working order while you will see ongoing restoration projects on the tour.
The staff are friendly and accommodating.
There's an annual cherry festival that is growing with popularity every year.

A heritage haven of the largest collection of steam locomotives and the longest narrow gauge railway in the world. A magnificent collection of vintage tractors and machinery all preserved for our children's future. It's also undoubtedly the most beautiful farm in the country, nestled amongst the sandstone mountains in the eastern free state and looking out at the majestic Maluti mountains of Lesotho. I highly recommend a visit to Sandstone Estates.
