Only walked past. But this is such a cool town. Makes you feel like your in yhe old days
Definitely a must for anyone passing through Pilgrims Rest. If to stay over at the old Victorian themed hotel, visit the historical bar (once church) or eat from the exquisite menu.
Not the same anymore. I use to live to come here. It was a tradition coming here very year. The authenticity of the place has been lost. They do not stock all the alcohols you would prefer like in the padt and you have to settle for what they have. SAD.
Hotel is great for a night or two. Historically interesting and true to the time period. Breakfast is ok. As a lunch restaurant I'd rather go across the street.
Pity the town of Pilgrimsrest has lost its shine. Quaint little hotel. Few visitors.
Majestic old hotel with the bar which is in fact a former church and was transported from Maputo by ox wagon.
Enjoyed a drink at the famous church bar. Great service and atmosphere
Sign board outside of hotel not welcoming. No real ambiance to speak of. Did not draw my attention at all.
Situated in a small town of Pilgrims rest and Being part of the national heritage ,and built in the 18S ,the Royal Hotel is one of the most exciting vintage hotels in the country it'll takes back then the staff are very friendly and helpful but the food is sometimes very disappointing from not not being freshly cooked
Its fantastic . Remind me of all the good old days. From grandma and grandpa
Quaint and an air of history.
Lets you see the olden days. Need more souverneirs of pilgrims rest instead of commercial stuff to buy
Food here was great ! Love the historic vibes
For us the stay was wonferful. We made our reservation after midnight via telephone 2 nights before arrival, called again the next day to re-confirm and all was in order.
Check-in went smooth, staff was friendly an supportive. Buffet dinner was good and the rooms have very nice old style finishes.
We didn't stay in the hotel and only had lunch there twice, so this is based on the food and service.
The Royal is a well maintained property keeping many of its period features and the feel of old. The food was good and location to sit on the patio good, however that's where the good ends. The service is very slow on both occasions. The drinks orders were wrong on both occasions, we were billed incorrectly, items were forgotten and had to be ordered again which resulted in others finishing their meals before others had received there's. Nobody seemed to care. Such a shame as I'm sure it could be excellent.
