Mannini has recently started her internship (with the NRF) in the Faculty of Electrical and Electronic Sciences at the University of Johannesburg. Under her name, is a Bachelor of Technology in Mechatronics Engineering from Cape Peninsula University of Technology. Her field of interest is robotics and computer science. Besides being a nerd, she’s a friendly, approachable and happy soul. We are glad to have her in the team and look forward to a great year.

The IDC and the University of Johannesburg visiting the Nkuri Co-op in Giyani. This co-op has been in existence for 15 years operating a Crusher Industry providing the local community with Gravel and sand. Due to unforeseen circumstances this operation has now become ineffective. Through a new initiative brought about through the Partnership between the IDC and the University of Johannesburg a new Bakery and Cold storage facility will be erected in Nkuri to allow this co-op to upskill the employees in a new Industry. Engineering students will be allowed the opportunity to design and build this solar plant that will be responsible for powering this new initiative. It will also provide the University with numerous research opportunities which will definitely be explored to the maximum by Prof Johan Meyer and Dr. Sune von Solms.
