Great hotel in a convenient location, in the most beautiful little town!
Rooms were clean and the service was outstanding. The view from the executive rooms are amazing!
Sufficient and safe parking right by the front door. Definitely recommended if you need a decent place to stay for a night or two!

Went for dinner on a Sunday. Gorgeous views. Average food. Decent service. Very quiet when we arrived around 5pm. Wasn't charged for corkage but it could be because we were served steak that wasn't given a chance to breathe from the vacuum seal thus making it taste off.

My room was a bit noisy due to the air conditioning beneath the window. Good food and very nice atmosphere. I recommend to take the breakfast on the terrace in the sun with view on the mountains.
A gym would be nice, especially for the customers who are there for car testing (because they are sitting all day long in the cars)response / report this review -

What a wonderful stay! Best matress I have ever slept on away from home. Clean crisp linen on bed. Clean and neat rooms. Wounderful service orientated staff - they are well trained indeed. First time ever I am 100% satisfied after a stay! I can get really picky and irritated quickly, but this hotel knows their stuff! Compliments to management and trainers. Excellent food as well ( I sometimes struggle because I'm vegetarian, but was pleasantly surprised)

The hotel is situated in a great location within Clarens as you are able to walk around the town without needing to use a car.

Beautiful hotel inside and out!! Great undercover parking available for guests! We have a lovely spacious room with a balcony overlooking the beautiful landscape and swimming pool! The breakfast was of a good standard. The staff was friendly and helpful!! The bedding is amazing insuring that you have a good night's rest!! It is also walking distance from the town square and all that Clarens has to offer!! You will not be disappointed booking here.

Wow so impressed with the service level at this Protea. Every single person we came into contact with was really genuinely helpful. As expected food was excellent. Cappuccino was the best I have ever had. Well done Protea Clarens. You guys are doing an awesome job.

Not very clean but excellently situated away from all the hustle and bustle of the city. Nestled in the Maluti mountains with picturesque view. Hopefully they can clean rooms better.

Almost all Protea Hotels are good as thy offer there standard theme of good rooms and similar food but the experience at Clarens was awesome. What makes it awesome is from the time you arrive till you leave its a hassle free experience as the staff are the awesomeness. From reception to food and accomodation loved the attention of overall experience and ambience.

The place is located in tranquil area halfway between Johannesburg and Durban. The reception is warm and food is superb. Hotel is accommodating to the individual needs of the guest. Next time I am at Clarens I will surely book myself there.

People were very friendly, you had everything you needed in your room. We also tried the roomservice and the food was good, but there can be a bit of a waiting time. But in general, had a good stay.
