Excellent location. Great food. Lacking basic hospitality skills.

If they were to train there staff and management better this could be one of the best lodges in/near the kruger. Rooms and reception needs a bit of maintenance. To be fair, when we were here they were busy with some renovations.

Buffet breakfast and dinners are excellent. Waiters need to be a bit mor attentive. We had to get up and order drinks at the bar everytime. Also, no inroom dining menu was in our unit, and after waiting 2 hours after asking them for one, we had to fetch it ourselves. Management did however waive the tray fee after we mentioned this to them. But again, at these prices you expect a bit better.

Premises' are very clean and tidy. Spa was excellent. All staff are very freindly and willing to help, but one gets the feeling most have not been trained sufficiently in hospitality.

Our stay was overall very pleasant, but unfortunately we will not be visiting again, unless they up their game considerably.

Accommodation is ok, place is great near the Gate of kruger Park. Food /buffet is horrible, if you can choose, arrange a breakfast bag to go for the early safari tour and for dinner go to the restaurant across the street (Hamiltons). That one is very good for normal prices. Also drinks are very expensive in the lodge, in comparison to the country. If you want to go to the supermarket, go to the super spar in malelane. Very good, big and save to be there.

it's a nice lodge with bungalows really close to the Malelane gate, the access to kruger park. The staff is really kind, I went there during a low tourist season and they upgraded my room for free. I spent three nights in a big room in front of the river. There's a huge terrace with a view to the river where you can have breakfast and dinner. You can see a lot of animals from there having a fresh time in the waters. Rooms have a/c. there's a also a nice swimming pool for relax time.

The worst hotel I have ever stayed in
The general manager should be fired- he is rude , abrupt and un accommodating
They are trying to rip off the guests at every opportunity - charge R 34 a tomotoe juice ( 250 ML) , kids have to pay R 55 to go on a water slide that is part of the facilities , if you want to eat in the boma they charge you R 3500 venue hire when you a guest in the hotel .
The kitchen is filthy - health and safety hazard
the hotel needs a complete overhaul - its more like a camping facility -
Bathroom and towels are run down , dirty -
Dont waste your money !!!!

We had a Wonderful stay, Our rooms where very spacious although we did not get to stay in one of the rooms with a view. They have a new Chef, and the food is fantastic. We booked all our safaris with Hylton Ross who are based in the hotel, we managed to see the big 5 on our first day. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone.

The Pestana Kruger Lodge is very well situated with fantastic views of the river and national park, but the hotel is VERY run down and in urgent need of maintenance. The room we were in had tiles missing and coming off in the shower. The safe was also missing in our room, we contacted the reception on numerous occasions and was told that a safe would be put into the room by maintenance but after the full week we still hadn’t seen a safe. Regarding the food, although the buffet was good it was very limited and there was always empty or limited food available. They did not restock the buffet on an ongoing routine but just waited until the dishes were empty and someone asked for more, then there was a delay while more was prepared. The operation appears to be run on a tight budget and not to the 4 star standards.
