Fantastic backpack lodge chalet . It's all in one and probably one of the most modern place to stay that fit the environment. On main road so close to all restaurants and shops. Can be a bit noisy if it's fully booked in season. Enjoy watching hippos walk past the front gate in the evenings.

Nice tented hostel.
I must admit that I had some doubts about this hostel, due to the fact that I read on the Internet so different/contrasting reviews about the place.
Then, once I have spent there one night, I understood.
In the same place where now there is the Monzi Budget Backpackers, there were another hostel which has been upgraded during the last months of 2015 by the new management.
Nowadays, the hostel is very nice. The idea to sleep in beautiful tents for 2 people is very original, at least we loved it. The shared bathroooms are very clean and offer the appropriate privacy to everybody.
Moreover, you are on St.Lucia main road with plenty of restaurants, bars and shops.
And very close to the iSimangaliso Park.
Just for your info, in the same property, there is also the Luxury Self-catering Tented Camp which offers more comfort.response / report this review -

A gr8 experience indeed, luxury camping experience, my kids crying for more days at Monzi, the place is superb, hospitality of the staff members was more than nice, will definitely be a come back will recommend to all visiting St Lucia

Unfortunately very noisy. Communal area only a glimpse to the tents, staff did not care to keep noise down for partying guests. Also very busy and noisy from late afternoon. Did not enjoy the stay. Maybe more for teenager and youths.beds are good though and it is clean > two stars

Great stay, barbecue area, fully equipped kitchen, friendly staff and really nice tents. It doesn't feel like a tent, more like a room because there is everything inside what we needed. We got our breakfast served at our terrace. Thank you

I never actually booked in here but took a small #peepsee and walked arround the place. A few years back this spot was called "The BLUE house" and was run as a back packers lodge

Overall, Monzi far surpassed my experience of what a backpackers should be. The place looks amazing and inviting, with a really lovely pool area, clean bathrooms, and the fact that each bed has its own plug point with a 2-pin charger is a huge win for travellers. The only negatives were that Monzi itself does not have a bar (although it is only a few metres from some great restaurants), and that the male dorm that six of my friends shared was not very well designed, and very small. Because we were friends, this was not really a problem, but I imagine sharing that space with strangers could be uncomfortable and awkward. Another weird point is that the locker you get in your room can be opened by keys for other lockers in the room - bringing the effective security of the room down to zero.

The twin bed tents are a very neat idea that is budget while allowing you to enjoy a bit of privacy. Thus was the quietest backpackers I have ever stayed at, which was also nice when most guests are getting up early for safari.
