I taught there !! Was a great school when Sr Margaret was principal!! Was an amazing experience from 1980 to 1981!! We had 3 of our teachers including myself playing for the Wolves Football team (school first team). It was a magical time under coaching by Mr Firmstone, who was an amazing coach almost like the great Alex Ferguson!! He also coached the Wolves team for over 27 years with a great record of even beating professional teams and winning many tournaments from Kokstad, Durban, Pietermaritzburg,Umzimkulu, Harding etc.

I am a proud ex-learner of this outstanding institution! I spent eight years at Little Flower School in Ixopo during 1972-1980, and have had a strong foundation built on the principles that I was taught there. I remember some my teachers and a few of the nuns who were there at the time with much fondness. Having been raised in unfortunate, trying and sometimes painful surroundings, school represented a welcome atmosphere of acceptance, warmth and freedom to express myself. The medium of instruction was of a very high standard, and I attribute my adult successes, amidst the trials and hardships an of abusive and unhappy domestic environment, to the exceptional educators, role models and often parent figures at Little Flower School,that kept me sane. This has stood me in good stead to be unwavering in the face of adversity, and never to give up on my dreams and goals, no matter what the challenges may be. I have worked in diverse environments, successfully studied, travelled locally and abroad, and still continue to study(at the age of 53!) I believe in optimising every challenge as an opportunity to overcome another hurdle in life to become the best I can be. The belief that I can make a difference in a life, has led me to become a volunteer, even across the borders of our beautiful country. Needless to say, I don't miss an opportunity to credit the development of my character to the wonderful institution that taught me the simple, yet profound, foundational principles of becoming a successful human being.
My English teacher at the time, Mr Dennis Biggar, made such an impact on me that I found my way to the United Kingdom, initially to work, but more so to discover the world that he made so exciting and adventurous to me.

I may not remember all the names of the educators and valuable people who were instrumental in my early life, but I SALUTE YOU ALL!

On 31 January 1923 an iron shanty was erected which housed eight pupils at " LA TRAPPE" Ixopo. This was a school run by Mariannhill sisters founded by Trappists who were the pioneers of the Mariannhill Missions. The school was a private Mission school at first but enlarged and became government -aided in 1929. It was also given a new name. LITTLE FLOWER SCHOOL in honour of St Theresa of Lisieux, patroness of missions. L.F.S has grown .2011 houses over 1500 learners. The school has also managed to uphold a catholic ethos and a TRADITION OF EXCELLENCE.
