We were supposed to camp but upgraded to a dormitory room after the rain lashed down. The rooms are nice with two comfy single beds and quality linen. There's a heater, built in cupboards and a kettle with two cups. The kitchen had a working stove but there were 3 fridges and not one of them were working. I was equipped for camping so this didn't bother me, but one should be aware what to expect. The dormitory bathroom facilities are old school boys or girls only. There's no door between the toilets and showers so when taking a shower anyone can just walk in irrespective of age or gender. This is an issue that they should address! In the main building you have a restaurant, lounge and bar. Be prepared to spend a lot of money on the food. The bar is affordable and the staff in general are either very friendly or just reply the bare minimum when engaging in conversation. Such a pity because there's so much potential at Katse Lodge.

Visited in February 2018. The views are out of this world and roads are amazing to ride on if you go there on a motorcycle. But unfortunately that's where is ends. The stuff are VERY unhelpful and not friendly at all. Food is nothing to talk about (mostly using frozen stock). Accommodation is clean, but nothing works in the little house. Our TV was broken and probably 20 years old. This was going to be the highlight of our trip, but we all ended up in bed at 18:00 cause there is NOTHING to do here. Very sad and will not recommend this to anyone Rather take the rid, see the dam and go back where you came from.

Way better than I expected! Clean, spacious, well equipt rooms. Electrical blanket and heater against the freezing temperatures. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was delicious and perfectly prepared. Restaurant with a clear view of the dam
Some repairs on the ceiling in the passage might help to give 5 stars.

Beautiful location overlooking a vast area of the dam. When arriving at the lodge reception they could not find the key for the room we booked, no Porter to show us the room and eventually acquired another room. The rooms are spacious with clean bedding but need plenty of maintenance ( bed side light not working, cupboard hinges loose and bathroom basin half blocked). The corridor ceiling were badly patched and a large hole aswell. The breakfast layout was very good with a nice variety of food. The dining rooms chairs are falling apart and when asked to speak to the manager/ owner we were told he lives in Maseru. On departure it had been raining through the night and we could see why the ceilings were so bad as there were roof leaks in various places. I do think that if renovations are not done soon there is a possibility of fewer bookings and not a good advert to overseas visitors. On the tour of the Dam Wall the guide was friendly and knowledgeable and was very interesting. However the tour was spoilt by a taxi load of loud and intoxicated people.( Don't know why the security allowed them access).

The main lodge looks like a hospital that they have converted into a lodge. However the restaurant food is very good. The rooms in the self catering unit are very very old, but at least it's clean and tidy.

Decor stuck in the 70's.
Did not have rolls for hamburgers, but they made a plan on normal bread. Was very tasty. No Wi-Fi access.

The view is magnificent for sure! But the camping area looks very improvised: there are no marked areas for campers, so everybody can just put themselves wherever they want. Toilet, shower, water taps and places for dish washing are located in "abandoned" block of the hotel close to the lawn area where people camp. It's a bit weird to see all these corridors and empty rooms but the toilets and showers were quite clean and hot water was working fine, so for a one night stay it was ok.

“Great stay, will be back after the revamp!”

We stayed at Katse Lodge for 2 nights, and had a great time there. The rooms are very comfortable, and the views are spectacular. Staff are very friendly and helpful and I had the best steak ever, although the fresh trout is also delicious.

We heard that they are going to do a major revamp, will definitely be back after that!

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view of the dam

A bit of luxury next to the Katse Dam. Good views and relaxed atmosphere and has wi-fi (even though no whatsapp messages go through?). A but dated and past it's heyday.
