Amazing food and great service. Although it was packed we still received our food and drinks very quickly. I would definitely recommend the fillet steak!

We had a really nice waiter. Didnt have to wait long at all for food and drinks for 14 people. But must say the quality of the food has decreased. Nick (the manager) was so helpful tho. Hope to go again

Very good food and lives up to their motto. Service is great and atmosphere sets the tone for an amazing night. Daily specials allow one to not burn holes in their wallet and food is well worth it. Friendly staff make dining experience enjoyable. I would definitely go there again

Jayz grill was in fact my favourite restaurant in Pietermaritzburg. However I visited the restaurant yesterday and I had a horrible experience. I was first greeted by a stuffy stale smell in the smoking area. Thereafter I had a very rude waiter just ask what I'm drinking without introducing himself or informing us of specials. What upset me the most was that my boyfriend requested Tabasco sauce situated at a table opposite us, the waiter ignored him and went to another table. My boyfriend again requested the sauce to which he was told very rudely by the waiter "I heard you sir I'll give it to you now!". I couldn't not wait to leave the restaurant. Jayz use to be a lovely welcoming place to enjoy as if you were at your home however after yesterday I don't think I'll be going back. The people you employ are the face of your business please consider better staff.

Always a treat to come here. Service is friendly, food tastes good and the menu has a large selection to chose from. Portions are huge and one can see the effort and time put in by the owner and staff to make it a success. Large play area for kids too. Only down side is that it can be pretty noisy when busy as the tables are many and close together.

Generally good standard of food, child friendly with play area, however play area can get quite hot busy and noisy.
Adequate buffet on weekends, quite a bit of fried food for starters. Vast ala carte menu and wine list. Lift available for wheelchair access. Efficient service by waitrons vary, but most are friendly.
Best to book in advance, table is kept for approximately 20 minutes after booked time. Presentation of meals could be better.response / report this review -

Went to Jay Z on Friday night and had the worst experience ever! I had ordered the vegetarian platter for obvious reasons, this platter consisted of carrots, spinach and butternut, the carrots were clearly gone bad, when I had approached the manager, he had played down the situation and said that the carrots were probably overly cooked! My platter was then taken to the kitchen and the carrots removed and the plate merely wiped off which I found disgusting as the carrots did contaminate the spinach a bit and had an off stench. The manager just played down the situation, absolutely no remorse was shown. Worst part of that night was that the manager thought it was completely fine to eat contaminated food!! Absolutely disgusting, will never go back to this place again.

I usually always enjoy the food here and would recommend it, however, the manager did speak down to me on the last occasion that I've been and I found it to be very off putting. However, the food is excellent. And they offer great deals. It would just be nice if the manager didn't speak to me like I was a complete idiot.
