Very disappointed on the condition of the place considering the costs.Not recommend for a family with children

"Campsite" on a dairy farmers front lawnablutions generally a mess and no guarantee of hot water. Sold as a site on a dam with easy hiking access which is not true. Exceptionally expensive for a camp site of such low quality.

I will not recommend Goxhill Trout Lodge at all. On arrival there was no one to assist us. We walked around and eventually found the caretakes house which was in a disgusting state. Our accommodation, Kingfisher house , was dirty and the curtains were comming of the rails. When I phoned the owner Merryl to complain I was told to go and find other accommodation if their accommodation is not up to my standard. She was extremely rude and did not care at all. Did not make an efford to even try to rectify the problem . She did not offer to give me a refund. We stayed at Karmichael farm about 2kl from the Goxhill Trout Lodge the night before. Paid the same rate and the accomodation was excellent.

We camped at Goxhill and it was alright. Not what the agent who booked the campsite said we'd be right in the mountains and on a lake. In reality we were on the main guest houses front garden.
So it did feel like camping in your back garden.
Shower facilities need to be sorted. Intermittent hot and cold water is extremely frustrating and the little 16 litre boiler is not enough, even though this is a little site.
Power occasionally tripped too.
Other than the shower issue and the fact you're on the front and side lawn of Goxhills guest house we did enjoy ourselves in the end.
Note there is also no sign in or a reception and this definitely is camping in somones garden. You'll also be next to the owners dairy farm as the camping is certainly not his main focus.

We camp. Large showers with hot water. Warm kitchen for cold evenings. Large lush lawn for camping. Electricity available. 2017 rates: R100pp camping/night.
