I have been a patient of Dr. Kaplan's for 38 years and the reason is that every single time I have had a treatment or cleaning done I have felt him to be most capable and professional. A bridge that he did for me was done soon after his return from the USA 38 years ago, with the latest method. He used me as a model to demonstrate and educate a panel of qualified dentists how to do this procedure. I certainly hope that all present learned from his expertise because this bridge is still intact and has not given me a day's trouble. He has attended to the health of my family's teeth through regular check-ups and cleaning which he does himself. Dr. Kaplan is professional in the art of dentistry and prosthodontics and all the work he has ever done for me, family and friends has been problem free. I cannot recommend him highly enough. Hi, I was so impressed by Jacquelines service, how she went out of her way to assist me and help me by making an urgent appointment, she followed up and even called prior to the appointment to make sure I remembered. Dr Kaplan was amazing and so informative too.

After making an appointment for my three kids via telephone with Jackie, on monday, listing their ages, detailing what they need done and being told that yes in fact Dr Kaplan does do regular dentistry for kids, imagine my surprise, when on their arrival at the rooms yesterday, my husband and kids were turned away by the Doctor, after he took one look at them, saying:"sorry I dont treat kids." How is it that the receptionist of the dentist doesn't know this critical information? Is this really still happening in the new South Africa? Shocked and appalled and certainly not recommending this dentist to anyone!

I drove an hour to see Dr Kaplan cause he had great reviews and I was looking for a trustworthy dentist. I wasn't disappointed at all, he and his staff are lovely. He immediately saw I actually needed to see an orthodontist and went out of his way to find me a good ortho closer to home. I will definetly be visiting him again after the orthodontist.

I went for a regular dental check up to dentist that was recommended to me. I have struggled finding the right dentist all my life. After this specific check up, I was told that I would need to get implants done. I was devastated to hear this, and I felt heartbroken. I then went for a second opinion to Dr. Kaplan, who calmed my nerves, did a thorough examination and concluded I did not need implants. Dr. Kaplan explained my condition to me step by step and he slowly took me through the steps of action that needed to be taken. He also answered all the questions my family and I had asked, even if we repeated ourselves. He further referred me to the best specialists that would work on my mouth before he could reconstruct and fix the condition of my teeth. I visited a maxillofacial surgeon, a periodontist and had most of the reconstruction done by Dr. Kaplan which is a prosthodontist.
This experience was very emotional for me and the number of procedures I went through left me in lots of pain. I am extremely grateful for what Dr. Kaplan, Jacqui and Lebo did for me. They were always considerate, caring and reassuring. Jacqui would call or email to check up on me and Dr. Kaplan himself called me at 6:30pm, after an exhausting 5 hour session with me in the morning, to check up on how I was. I could have not have asked for a better team to help me with my dental problems. To add to my stress, I was preparing to leave the country and Dr. Kaplan and the team worked hard to make sure my teeth would be done before I leave.
I can now smile and chew easily with less discomfort, and I feel more confident to laugh again.
Thank you again to an amazing team. I have now found a dentist I can rely on and who really cares for his patients.response / report this review -

Visiting a dentist is a nerve wrecking experience especially if you have had bad experiences with dentist who cause pain or damage your teeth and then make you pay for its repair. I saw a post of Dr Kaplan on Facebook and he posted that generally dental practitioners do not listen to the actual complaint of patient, and the dental profession should deal with client expectations as a priority instead of doing what they think a patient needs. And this has been my experience with dentists, they dont listen to what you are concerned about, their general attitude is that they are the dentist and they know best!!!
It took me a year to visit Dr Kaplan. I love they way Jacqueline the practice manager allayed my trepidation and fear of the visit and answered my questions promptly via email. When I finally arrived at my appointment (which I kept postponing), both Jacqueline and Dr Kaplan dealt with my anxiety over this visit. Even the dental assistant, Lebo, was patient, kind and helpful during the consult. Dr Kaplan explained exactly what he was going to do during the oral examination, which he then carried out. I felt a lot more comfortable. After the consult, he discussed the various options I had and answered all my concerns and queries regarding his advice.
As a veterinarian, I appreciated the competent, simplistic manner, attention to detail and his genuine interest in restorative techniques for my specific dental issues, even though I had a preconceived idea of my problem.
I can honestly say that this is the first time I have had a pleasant, almost stress free visit to a dentist!! I would highly recommend this practice and salute their team effort and their dedication to patient comfort and care.Other practices can certainly from this one!

Dr Kaplan is one of the most passionate and dedicated medical professionals I have met. He has come to my rescue on numerous occasions, including New Year's Eve when many medical professionals are unavailable or unwilling to assist, as well as three days after having undergone his own medical procedure at hospital. Dr Dr Kaplan has had the courtesy of following up to check if I had recovered well after treatment and is a perfectionist who refuses to compromise on quality. I have often referred to him as a closet artist in the wrong profession. Thankfully for the medical fraternity and his patients he chose a life of service. I came across Dr. Kaplan's advert in the local newspaper. After being frustrated with poor and irresponsible dentistry I called his office manager - Janine at the time, who immediately fitted me in. I got a massive scare when Dr Kaplan explained the extent and the cost of the work to be done. That was 6 years ago and I am happy to say the dental journey we have been on has produced excellent results. It has taken time and patience on both our parts. His dental assistant Lebo and current office manager Jackie are most accommodating, nurturing and patient and have often buffered a few tense situations where Dr Kaplan or I were being stubborn. LOLThank you Dr Kaplan (my Jewish father) and your team. I am so grateful for people like you.

I was looking around the web for a dental specialist. My local dentist had recommended that I remove two of my wisdom teeth and I wanted a second opinion. I called Dr Kaplan's office and by a chance, he answered the phone. I could sense he was a warm and knowledgeable man. When I arrived at his office I was met by his friendly team. During the consultation Dr Kaplan informed me that I had to remove not only all my wisdom teeth but an extra molar as well. He even offered a free X-Ray, which saved me a lot of pain and money down the road. My dental appointment was excellent. I knew I was in the hands of very capable and caring professionals. I felt like I had all the necessary tools to make a well informed decision. I appreciate his generosity and thoughtfulness. Dr Kaplan restored my faith in humanity.

I highly recommend Dr Gerald Kaplan services. His knowledge and passion for dentistry and looking after your teeth is beyond anything I've seen before. My dentist picked up a problem with pot holes in my teeth and wasn't sure what the problem was. He suggested I see Dr Kaplan. Dr Kaplan took photo's of my teeth and was easily able to identify the problem and a solution. My teeth needed straightening and I needed an orthodontics, but being 31 and a working male I wasn't excited by the idea but bit the "proverbial" bullet . 18 months later, my teeth are looking better than ever, and it was well worth it.

I was very frustrated with my then Prosthodontist and chose to no longer continue my treatment with them. I am very grateful to have found Dr Kaplan and his team because they have been nothing less than amazing. I have been treated with kindness and respect. I have been given a thorough breakdown and a plan for treatment. I was referred to a terrific Orthodontist and with Dr. Kaplan's support I am set on a treatment plan that I am comfortable with. I am a dental technician who has worked with and for Dr. Kaplan for the past 23 years. Our relationship started when I was a student, and I have never stopped learning from him about life, work ethic and above all high quality dentistry. Dr. Kaplan is a prosthodontist who always strives for and achieves perfection in his work, and expects the same from those who work with him. I can highly recommend Dr. Kaplan from the simplest to the most complex of dental work, and have recommended him to many friends and family. Thanks for being a mentor and friend Dr. Kaplan

As a young dentist in private practice, Dr Kaplan has been an invaluable help to me. He has been incredibly generous with his time and vast knowledge of advanced dental treatments. Through his tutelage, my patients have received improved care not only with regard to the standard of their dental care but also in our personal relationships.
