We had a brilliant stay at this resort. Beautiful walks. In the Spring be careful of snakes though. We had a Rinkhals rear up at us on one of our walks. A trout fisherman's paradise.

Peaceful resort. The cabins are private and has kitchen essentials for meal preparation. A lovely outdoor area over looking a small trout dam making it easy to relax over a braai . The resort has fishing gear for hire . They also provide wood for the fireplace .

What a beautiful view! Popped in for breakfast, hearty and very filling.Pity they didn't have any baked treats. Would love to come back with the kids for a weekend stay this time.

Magical place! Beautiful trees, especially the Chinese Maples. Doesn"t feel like you are in SA when you are here.

Aaah! I remember this place. I went there this year and I enjoyed it. There was boat riding and canoeing. If you had nothing to do, you could hire a bicycle and ride around the resort. There were also activities for the little ones. They have a program for morning activities and nigh too. At night they have BINGO! There is also a pool table for anyone who likes playing pool. It looks BEAUTIFUL at nights with all the lights reflecting over the water bodies surrounding the resort. I loved it

Away from the hustle and bustle. Nice dams regularly stocked. Very fair pricing for trout angling. Well kept premises and facilities. Units well kept and clean. Everything well this far. Enjoy!

Just went to the resort restaurant twice. Very nice view and pleasant atmosphere when cold outside. However service slow not very efficient. Food correct. Not pricey especially the Thursday special 85R 3 courses meal.
A plus with kids is that you can enjoy activities from the resort after or before lunch: swimming pool, croquet, mini golf, rowing boats.
Worth a visit if you are in self-catering around.response / report this review -

Beautiful setting, lovely and professional staff, clean and stunning accommodation. We will definitely be back. NB. We took along a little baby and the camp cot that was provided was immaculate.

Reading the reviews of Castleburn that have been posted so far I am glad to read that they are mostly positive. As for the one review regarding the fishery at Castleburn I would like to give my two cents worth. I am the hatchery manager at Giants Cup Hatchery who stocks Castleburn. It is not in the resorts best interests nor mine, to not stock adequately. I can assure you that the small dams are stocked at the same frequency and numbers as they always have been. Wednesday after stocking the small dams personally, I had a short (just over an hour) session on the main dam and managed to catch 12 well conditions Rainbow Trout. Ranging from 10 inch to just over a kilogram. But do not take one persons brief fishing experience influence how you judge a fishery. Come find out for your self. The fish are there and waiting to be caught
