Probably the best restaurant in Knysna, the food was special and the service fantastic. Not on the waterfront but close, excellent value for money.

What an amazing destination!! From a beautiful sea view from their Blue Oyster Cocktail Bar where the sushi, pizza and tapas was enjoyed coupled with ice cold cocktails and boisterous service, to the beautiful interior of the Cafe Gannet Restaurant with friendly smiles wherever you look from the waiters to the amazing dishes that come out of the kitchen. This restaurant is the place to be for an entire evening out, to enjoy some pre-drinks and tapas at the bar and then later moving to the restaurant for starters, mains and of course, dessert!! Amazing food, amazing features and outstanding service. I would go back any day of the week!

Wonderful gem hidden in Mossel Bay

Let us start with the food and drinks. The have a great drinks selection, all kinds of different wines and proper cocktails too. Oh and the food, of course, was divine, was fantastic, was indulgent. There are so many words to describe the amazing food. You will definitely not be sorry to eat seafood at Cafe Gannet. Just awesome.

The atmosphere is great, Cafe Gannet is actually quite fancy, but you can't see that from the outside, they are a little hidden with their brick walls and native fishing decorations. But once inside it all changes, you actually forget that you are in Mossel Bay.The service was good, our waitress kept us informed of the status of our food and was there when we needed her.

The one thing that bothered us a lot was that we informed them that it was a special evening, a birthday. We told them when we made the reservations, we told them when we phoned to check the reservation on the day and we told the waiter as we sat down. She even thanked us for informing her. That is as far as it went. No special birthday anything. We were quite disappointed about it.Other than that it was a great evening.

Cafe Gannet get's Two Tasty Tummies' stamp of approval

Excellent restaurant, tastefully decorated. A lot bigger than it looks from outside. Well worth a visit if you are visiting Mossel Bay.

Massively overpriced for what it is ordered duck spring rolls for 80 rand and some chips with cheese sauce for 35 rand just as snack, chips and cheese ok but only got 2 small duck rolls. Went to waiter assuming there had been some mistake he just laughed and said yes the price is shocking isn't it ridiculous price and service trying to be something they are not

Nice restaurant very clean and we'll presented. Fantastic views with a nice bar, very salty dishes, one dish (famous sea food casserole) was to salty to eat and that was coming from a person that grew up by the sea and loves salt.

One of the about five excellent restaurants in Mossel Bay. Extensive menu with mostly expensive but some cheaper options. Long wine list and a small but worthy selection of brandies and whiskeys. Open from early to late every day since this restaurant is used by the Protea Hotel guests. Lots of tables. Only negative is at times service experience can disappoint depending on how busy it is and the waiter you get.

A bit of an up market restaurant with very good menu options. The sea food and wine is a bit pricey. The service is professional and the waiter is efficient.

    All considered a pleasant experience.
